emotional eater that's mad

Wouldn't it be interesting if someday, behavior like this is considered a hate crime and those little devils could be made to stand before a judge and explain their lack of manners and sensitivity. Then force them to wear a fat suit for a week and see how their lives change!! I'd slap the shit out of my kids if they ever did something like that.

Sheemac,

Those girls should be ashamed of themselves. I know how you feel though. A month or so ago we had one of our first nice spring days here (Wisconsin) so I decided to take the dog for a walk. We were bookin' down the sidewalk and went past a bar. I hear a guy say "Goddamn dog's in better shape than she is!". When I heard that I stopped and looked back. It was dark in there and I had sunglasses on so I couldn't see the person who said it, but I flipped the bird in the direction of the door anyway! If i'd have known who said it I would have said "You should have seen me 80 pounds ago, a$$hole!"! I was absolutely blown away that a grown man would be so cruel. It wounded me but I had to rationalize and consider the source. What kind of lowlife has nothing better to do on a beautiful day than to park his ass in a bar and try to make his pathetic life seem better by insulting someone else? Some people just suck. Keep your chin up because you have more class than those girls will probably ever have in their entire lives.

Robin

Ah men and their insults. Some of the ugliest men are the worst culprits. Many years ago I worked for a pharaceutical company and 3 of their sales reps used to spend their lunch break watching girls and grading them out of 10 on their looks. That was bad enough but these guys were in their 40s, one was tubby and bald, one had poxy skin, can't remember the other one. I say don't throw stones because they could very well land at your feet. Sheesh!

it think we have all been their. being ridiculed because of overweight is such a common practice that no one even thinks twice about it unless you are fat of course! You will get their, and these teens may some day be Enlightened otherwise they will remain forever empty shells and their is no lap band for that. We are (fat people) exceptionally sensitive, loving and responsible, shame on others for treating us that way, but most of all shame on us for putting up with it. Keep the faith girl...I know that you can do it, thanks for sharing your brave story. I will be lap-banded hopefully soon by the end of the summer!

I'm sorry that happened to you- it sucks that even as we lose weight- the comments continue. I'm down 145 lbs since 3/06 (some lost pre band) and I think I get more comments now even though I'm only "overweight" and not "obese" (5'9" and wear a size 14). Yesterday I took the dogs for a walk, was bending over to pick up their waste and some kid in a car yells out "what a huge ass!" :lol I asked if he was talking about himself or did he want me to ask his parents and the kid drove off.

I just try to laugh now- I can't control other people, only how I react to them so as others have said, try to let it motivate you in your exercise. I'm doing it for my health, not how people react to me so screw them.

hang in there!

Sheemac, I’m really sorry you had to deal with kids like that. I think it’s true what another poster said: When kids are with their friends they act like they haven’t been raised with sense or sensitivity, and maybe, in some instances they haven’t.

When I was in my twenties and just starting to work, and living with my sister, I came home and my niece had a friend over. They were in my room, doing what, I don’t know, but I went to sit on my bed, and my niece said to her friend, “Don’t let her sit on you, now!” I wasn’t nearly as fat as I am, now And I know my sister raised her better than that!.

Once I went to a Der Weinerschnitzel, (Sp?) and ordered a double burger, or something, and the A hole at the window said, “Are you sure you want that? That’s half a pound of meat!” I asked him why the hell it was on the menu if I couldn’t order it, and suggested that maybe he’d like me to take my business somewhere else.

I know we all have stories like that, and they sting even when we manage to come up with witty comebacks. One of my favorites is, “I may be fat, but you’re an idiot, and I can lose weight.”

We are all here to support each other, and let each other know that the ignorant people in the world are just that, and may never change, but we can, and will.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
