Congrats iamtheskinny me!

I had my screening with the nurse at my surgeon's office. One step closer. It was so awesome. She's been banded for 5 years.

However (as you can see from my ticker), I haven't lost a pound. In fact, according to my surgeon's scales - I'm 12 pounds heavier than I was at my PCP visit on Aug 12. Ugh.

I meet with the nutritionist and surgeon on Sep. 8...in the meantime, I'm lighting a fire under this 6 month diet thing. High Protein, lots of veg, lots of Water and more movement. I also have to be better about tracking my food. I look at this time as prep for changing my behavior and working on my attitudes towrd food. So maybe this lack of scale movement was a good thing after all!:wink2:

I finally lost a pound. I've never been so excited to lose a pound. But I am very happy and proud of that little pound.

I had to change my appointment with the surgeon due to some conflicts at work. When I asked about reschedule, the woman I talked to was really nasty - even though I told her that my PCP wanted me to get a weight loss target from the surgeon. Because I am so early in the 6 month process, she considered my visit a waste of time. So I'll talk with my PCP when I see him on Monday and we'll go from there.

I am happy to say that I received notice that my surgery is approved. I am scheduled for pre-op tomorrow (tue) and have the surgery scheduled for the 29th.

Now that it is real I am a bit nervous.

I too had to jump through hoops in order to have this done. I have been seeing my PCP for a while now and we discuss weight. Then I found out in March '08 that my insurance requires 6 months CONTINUOUS visits for me to be considered.

So now the time has come and I have my sixth and final visit in less than 2 weeks, Aug 6th.. As soon as that is done they will be faxing my notes to the surgeon and they are going to submit for my insurance.

As of right now I have my surgery scheduled for Sept 29th. This allows me the time to go on the cruise I have had planned for a year and then make my pre-op meeting.

I am willing to do whatever is necessary for insurance to improve it. (especially since I am changing companies next year)

I finish my six month monitored on November 6th. Paperwork will be submitted after that. Surgery is scheduled for November 24th so hopefully approval will come quickly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
