Was just wondering if anyone has used Weight Watchers or any other weight loss program to go along with their weight/eating control. I was banded June 11th last year and have lost little to no weight. One time my doctor even let all the Fluid out because I was sobbing so much and complaining about how I couldnt eat anything without throwing up yet I hadnt lost any weight. The fluid has been back in for almost 3 weeks now and although I think Im doing ok with Portion Control and choices I still havent lost any weight. In fact Ive gained 3 pounds! I really would like to just give up at this point but I know that I will gain most if not all my weight back (which has only been about 20 pounds). I would like to use Weight Watchers as a last resort to go along with the band but Im not sure if that will help either. I dont know what the problem is, really. I dont want to give up but its very frustrating to not lose any weight with effort and others lose weight with what seems like very little effort. Anyway, let me know what you think about the WW idea.:(

You have to count calories with the lap band to loose weight. 800 to 1000 calories a day, no more, and you will loose weight. If you are gaining weight you are eating too many calories, period. You can count your calories yourself or you can pay weight watchers and count points witht them, either way you must keep track. Light aerobic activity now and again is helpful. You are in this for the long haul. Keep working at finding out what works for you. Don't give up!

I agree...writing stuff down helps me too.

It is easy to find calories on the web without paying to go to WW. Just keep plugging away...you can, and YOU WILL do this!!

WW is great and there are lots of other members on these boards. It provides support and structure and focuses on healthy choices, Portion Control, exercise, and the lifestyle change necessary to maintain weight loss. I lost 50 lbs my first round, but stopped going. I went back as soon as I was off my liquid diet and I am glad I did. They have two programs, one involves counting points and one does not. And as far as your daily calorie intake, I eat more than 1000 cals a day and I have been losing steadily. Everyone's calorie needs are different, there is no magic number. Try a WW meeting for free, I love them. Some people are into the online program, but I like the accountability of a weekly weigh-in and its nice to talk to people in real life. Don't see it as a last resort...it's just another tool to help you get healthy. You'll find other recent WW posts if you look around. Good luck!!

I have found a great deal of support from attending overeaters Anonymous. They do not endorse any particular eating plan. The purpose of the meetings is to address the reasons that drive us to overeat in the first place. I plan attending them even after surgery. My stomach may have changed, but my emotions are the same. I have found them to be invaluable in this process. Good luck to you!
