Here's a couple more to add to that conversation:

I've had a slippage (I hope she didn't break anything when she fell)

liquid Hell (I thought hell was on fire, when did it flood?)

Mushies (Looks like she still has all of her teeth, do you think those are dentures?)

when your mother invites you to dinner and lists each item on the menu and asks "Can you eat that" after reading after each item.

My gosh! I laughed so hard at these.

You know you wanna be a bandster when:

  • You are actually excited about going for a psych evaluation, upper GI, gallbladder ultrasound, EKG, and blood tests.
  • Your doctor starts you on your liquid diet for two long weeks.

*no longer buy fast food because you don't want to waste the money (all you can eat is maybe 2 bites and 2 fries)

*You have to choose between having an egg OR bacon for Breakfast

*the site of bread (or any bread-like product) makes you nauseous (sorry, this one is personal for me, can no longer eat bread, comes back up)

*Compulsively ask other bandsters who have lost lots of weight how they did it

*have to find other things to do because now there is so much free time

*Looking forward to the next cruise for the actual vacation and not the food

...when you say, "I'm so full." And mean it.

When you say "I'm so full it's about to come out of my nose" and you REALLY mean it.

When instead of seeing "A LA Carte or dinner Entrees" on the top of your menu, it says "childrens'" or "Appetisers".

when you turn into a masochist, wanting more fills so you can go back to liquids only.

When you realize that this board is your family and it's the place where everyone understands you and never cares how often you whine or ask questions heard before (maybe not funny, but very real and true).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
