Tommorrow is the day, I go in at 7am and I'm excited and nervous. I was told that I will be staying overnight. For those of you who have also stayed the night, what will I need in the hospital. Can I bring my own PJ's or will they make me stay in a gown? Any advice will help. Thanks.

Just had my surgery last Wednesday the 28th of May, I stayed overnight. I did not need much hospital took care of everything. The velcro shoes to avoid blood clotting that make air noise are very annoying after awhile...relax and enjoy

I'm going to take my own pillow. Also I'm going to try and skip the gown. I'm more comfortable in a wife beater and boxer shorts. If my tank gets some blood on it from the incisions, it's ok, it's old and a cheapie from Target. :biggrin2:

Hello. I am 3 weeks post op. As far as PJ's... girl I had went out and purchased these comfortable ones. I did end up putting them on. They require you to walk around. It really helps with the gas. And I refused to walk in that gown so they let me put them on as long as they were baggy. I didnt really need anything else. Of course I brought other stuff...but never used it. So just bring your pjs and GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!

good luck to everyone having surgery tomorrow or in the near future. Bring your toiletries if you feel like cleaning up--of course you don't have to wear your gown. Remember though, you probably won't feel that good. The second day (the day I went home) was the worst. Get plenty of rest. Watch out for that left shoulder pain. Do EXACTLY what they say for the post-op eating plan. Good luck !

Banded 2/27/08. Lost 26 pounds current weight 194

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
