I STARTED MY PRE OP TODAY, I AM NOT ON ALL liquids BUT MAINLY. THEY GAVE ME A CERTAIN Protein shake TO DRINK 2-3X A DAY AND TO EAT 1 MEAL OF GREEN VEGIES AND 6OZ LEAN meat....

THIS IS GOING TO BE A STRUGGLE FOR ME SINCE I AM ALWAYS OUT AND ABOUT

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT COULD MAKE THIS A SMOOTH PROCESS OR ANY MEAL SUGGESTIONS

(I AM NOT A VEGGIE EATER SO PLEASE HELP ME...LOL)

It is only 2pm and I have the worse headache ever.

Where are you having your surgery done and who is your Dr? I am having mine done at University General and Dr. Garth Davis is my surgeon. Good luck to you with your diet, I start mine on the 13th.

Don't worry . . . the first day is the worst day -- at least it has been for me thus far. I am on day 5 and it's soooo much easier. I even started working out again.

The headache will pass.

Since you're always out and about, I would plan the meal for a. when you're hungriest and b. for when you're going to be home to prepare it. Then, I would get a small ice chest and keep your shakes with you in the car or wherever.

I had to do a photo shoot and brought my shake and bottled Water with me. It wasn't time for them, but it would be afterwards, so I was just bold and asked if I could keep my food in their fridge (it was in a baggy, so they couldn't see my liquid lunch). They were happy to accommodate me with fridge space and after the session, I just pulled my lunch out and drank it in the car on the way home.

It takes more planning than all the crap I was eating before, but the rest of our meals for the rest of our lives are going to take more planning, so we might as well get used to it now!!!

Good luck!

Oh, and I read somewhere on this board that "Being hungry is not an emergency." It has been my mantra for the past 5 days. So, thanks to whoever said that!!!!

I'm on day 3 of a 2 week pre-op liquid diet. You are so lucky to be able to eat meat and vegetables. I'm stuck with broth, Jello and water.... I have gone through a pack of gum just to be able to chew. Just plan ahead for every day... Failing to plan is planning to fail....

SanDiego... How right you are about this!! I struggle with wanting to cook. I used to love it. I am trying very hard to love it again. I know that It will do me nothing but good in the long run. It definitely takes more planning and time.

Ch4life.... I wish you luck in finding a veggie that you can live with. I'm the opposite. I love veggies (and I used to love the pastas, potatoes and rice:rolleyes2:) and not the meat so much. I have changed my likes and am willing to do without so many carbs. Now I go for the good carbs. But am still trying to find or learn to cook meats that I can tolerate.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
