I just started eating mushies this past weekend. I am having a problem with being full. I stop eating when I feel full, but am hungry again about an hour later. Does this mean that I am not eating enough? My doctor tells me that I should only be eating 3 meals a day.

At about that time you should be starting on liquids. I know sometimes when I'm hungry it's just that I'm thirsty. After I drink a glass of Water I feel fine.

This, my friend, is known as Bandster Hell. It's the time between getting banded and your first fill which will provide the restriction. There's nothing wrong with you! You're just in 'hell'....LOL

Shannon, I am feeling the same the thing as you and also only two weeks from Band Day. I don't know if I am doing this correct but I have been having a popsicle at this time. Sometimes I have two. It is frightening, as I am afraid I will slip back to my old bad ways. I was watching my weight drop a pound everyday for nine days after Band Day, now I am at a stand still. Also having a big problem with the Protein Powder. Soon as I injest it I get this "BUBBLE" feeling in my tummy. Feels Like Im a baby who needs burped and having a colic attack.

that bubble feeling is you drinking to fast probably slow down. Also my doctor told me not to worry about how often i ate until i got to the solid foods. I was eating every one to three hours partically cause i was afraid to eat enough in the begining.

i too am at that stage.. i am almost 2 weeks post op and i sometimes worry that i am eating too much b/c i am eating more then i was the first week....

but then i stop and realize how much i am really eating compared to what i was before and realize it is probably ok. As soon as i got on mushies i think i went a lil crazy.. i was so tired of broth.. lol now I am just trying to stick to my portion size better.. even with my little crazy stent i didn't gain any of my weight back so i think it is ok.

Hope we can all just make it until we get our fill!

Good luck everybody!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
