Hello All-

I am a 32-year-old working mom of 3 (ages 14, 12 & 3), with each child came more weight that I've just never lost. I've reached my breaking point at my highest weight ever, 235 lbs on my 5'2" frame. The decision is that I can not move forward in this life until the weight issue is addressed. That's why I took a loan out of my 401k to get the Inamed LapBand this summer, August 29th, in Juarez, Mexico, Dr. Jose Rodriguez. I've tried on my own with small successes followed up by feelings of huge failure the weight returns. I'm more than ready to take control of my body again...and I'm so excited about the positive changes coming the way of myself & my family.

While I wait for the big day, I am putting in place the lifestyle changes necessary for success. Reading this forum helps tremendously, and it is so motivating to read the success stories. I will update regularly to track progress. And in the meantime, any tips on preparations, especially anyone who can give me tips on the low-carb pre-op diet (the simpler the better with me) would be much appreciated.

Also, anyone who is going through this at the same time as me, I would love to hear your stories. We can do this together!

Thank-you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
