BayCityBandster 1 Posted June 2, 2008 Hi all! getting excited about my soft food stage coming up (not soon enough) and I see some people who eat eggs all the time and others who say they can't eat them. Why not? They seem so soft and versatile and an excellent Protein option so I am confused. Can you weigh in? Thanks in advance!!!
txjanaa1 0 Posted June 2, 2008 I had eggs twice this weekend, was just allowed mushies on Friday, and had no problem with them? I guess everyone is different, just make sure you chew, chew, chew!!! Best of luck to ya!
TulipStar 2 Posted June 2, 2008 I used to eat eggs every day. Before my 4th fill I could still eat eggs. When I started to get restricted, they would get stuck for some reason. I think its something about the consistency, the fluffiness, I don't really know. All I know is that I miss them A LOT!!! I was recently able to have 1 bite (one bite) at a friends house and I felt it kind of get stuck, but it eventually passed. Everyone is different, so you might not have a problem... Guest Leslie2Lose Posted June 2, 2008 I can eat anything right now, with the exception of eggs. I've tried them scrambled, fried, and boiled (boiled being the easiest). I chew, chew, chew and still can't eat them. I haven't PB'd, but have had a lot of tightness and am very uncomfortable after I eat them. I still have not had my first fill yet, but have been delayed (due to a flipped port) and am on regular foods now.
georgia girl 35 Posted June 2, 2008 eggs do not work for me! I could eat them fine when I was on mushies but not after I started getting fills. I've tried them several times and I come very close to PB'ing every time. I've found it's just easier to stay away from them.
BayCityBandster 1 Posted June 2, 2008 Thanks, everyone! Another Q? Anyone know what the best way to try them is? I was thinking of making like an egg salad with almost no chunks. almost like a paste. I am sooooo hungry. Thanks!!!
2BtinyinTN 1 Posted June 2, 2008 I was banded on 5/9. As soon as I went to mushies...I was eating scrambled eggs. I then moved to egg salad. No problems here!! Good luck.
Guest Leslie2Lose Posted June 2, 2008 Thanks, everyone! Another Q? Anyone know what the best way to try them is? I was thinking of making like an egg salad with almost no chunks. almost like a paste. I am sooooo hungry. Thanks!!! I think boiled would be the best way. It is the only way I can tolerate eggs. If I prepare them any other way I can't handle them. I'm still weary of eating them - scared I'm going to PB. I've made deviled eggs for a family get together and was able to eat the deviled part. It was made with low-fat (I can't handle ff mayo) mayo and was good. I think if you did the egg salad you shouldn't have the getting stuck issue.
favorite 3 Posted June 2, 2008 egg salad would be the easiest i think. nice and smooth and creamy. but a really great source of Protein would be to make the egg salad with cottage cheese instead of the mayo.< /p>
witchbabe 0 Posted June 3, 2008 When I first heard people having trouble with eggs I was mad because I love scrambled eggs. Then it was my turn. Happily I eat Egg Beaters with cheese with no problem. I just wonder what will happen after my first fill. Will they start to get stuck?
BayCityBandster 1 Posted June 3, 2008 Thanks, all! I will let you know how it goes!
redy2lose 0 Posted June 3, 2008 I sure hope I can still eat eggs! How often do they get stuck?
aubrie 6 Posted June 3, 2008 Boiled eggs and regular scrambled eggs are fine. they don't go down as easy as a soft scrambled, and that's usually how I eat them. Beat a couple eggs with some skim milk. Then cook real slowly scraping the bottom of the pan. don't overcook. they come out more like a custard and are VERY soft. I eat them every weekend and have had a couple fills already. Still no problem as long as I cook them like that. I also have NO problem with egg drop Soup. I make it a lot for lunch. It's good during the mushie stage.
slimmy120 2 Posted June 4, 2008 I have no problem with eggs unless it has mayo with it. Try poached eggs.
Alexandra 55 Posted June 4, 2008 This is one of those really individual situations, and there's no way to know what will work for you until you try it. I've never been able to eat scrambled eggs at all--two bites and I'm done even when otherwise I feel wide open. But eggs in other forms have been OK for me to varying degrees, depending on my restriction at the time.
