6 weeks check up..making good progress!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to check in and let everyone know how I'm doing. I'm starting my 6th week post op. I went to Dr. Yesterday and I'm down 17 pounds since I got my band. That means I'm 30 pounds down since middle of January!!! Woooohooo Thats exciting!!!!!!

I got a fill and I can tell it is different already. I 'm not quit sure the amount of the fill. I was so excited I forgot to ask what the cc's are. I guess it doesn't really matter as long as I'm losing weight.I can feel the liquids I drink going through the band kinda like a gurgle so I would think I'm pretty tight. I did liquids yesterday and Dr. said just to take it slow and easy today and to call if I had any problems.

Okay guys I finally feel like a true blue bandster. I got my band and my first fill and I'm losing weight. This is awsome!!!! Yeah for me!!!

Wow Jamie! You are so awesome! The gurgling down means tight. Watch it close to be sure you don't PB on something, cause swelling and the whole merry-go-round. Keep that band healthy! Good job!!!

Wow, Jamie, welcome to the land of the filled!! Now just be careful and don't take that NEXT bite when you think you're feeling a little restriction. Just wait two or three minutes and make sure everything is going down. If it's not, GET UP AND WALK AWAY. :D

For what it's worth, I don't know how much fill I have ever had, either. My doctor's thinking is that the actual amount is irrelevant; all that matters is the amount he's gone up or down from the prior amount. It's all relative.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
