Has any one used either of these doctors

Dr. William Scott Pennington or a Dr. Touilas ( spelling may be wrong)?

How was your experience?

Thanks

:thumbup:Hey! I had the lap-band on May 21st with Dr. Touliatos! He is an amazing doctor sweet and handsome. This was my first surgery and the whole staff at the hospital are all soo nice and comforting. I would recommend him. Now Dr. Pennington did come around after my surgery to see how I was which I thought was nice. Their office staff is also wonderful. They give this binder at your consult to help you with the process. So either one of the two would be a great decision. GOOD LUCK!!!!

I was band by Dr. Touliatos and he is fantastic. His staff was wonderful. I had no issues and was out of work 6 days. I ended up staying overnight. I was band on Tuesday, left 9:00 am Wednesday morning. My niece was having surgery at DCH in Tuscaloosa. My husband and I made it there before they took her down. I was there at the hospital with her until 9:00 that night. Honestly, I haven't stop going yet.

Sue Bunnell is wonderful also. If you haven't met Sue you will. She is a jewel. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

I wish you much success on your journey.

Natalie in looking at some of your other posts I see that you had UHC. I also have UHC thru AT&T. I have a couple of questions about insurance. When did the care co-ordinator enter the picture, and how look after your first doctor visit was your surgery approved by the insurance. Thanks

Well I will tell you the process is horrible. Now that it is after June 1st I would recommend calling UHC and requesting a Care Cord. My Care Cord was Kathy Sweeny and her # is 1-866-534-7209 ex. 67391. I would may recommend contacting her if you do not get assigned to a cord. I also advise you to ask them to go thru everything with you about what will need to be done to get approved. I know I had to have a doctor recommend a weight-loss program bc you have to do one for 6 months. I did Jenny Craig. After the 6 month plan, the psych eval, nutrition class it took about 8 months. I didnt go to my consult with Dr. T until my last week of my 6 month program. That way everything was quick. I hope this does help. If anything else let me know! Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
