GRATS EVERYONE!!

Last weekend I flew to SF to see my baby (ahem, he's 28! LOL) brother and his wife. I was there for her baby shower.

I came out of the BART station headed towards him and he looked right past me. I had to say, "Yo, Giacomo...." He just gaped!!

That was great!

Tonight is Phoenix and friends I haven't seen in almost 2 months!

KIKIVAL you are looking great! haven't been on in a while and now I see your new picture where you are showing your face not hiding behind a hat!!!! OMG 40+ pounds I am so jealous. Keep up the great work.

Have any of you started losing hair the last week I have lost so much hair. My once thick hair is gone. I pray I don't lose too much more. Went on a thread last night in the hopes of getting some answers. Seems I need to start taking Zinc or Biotin or both.

36_1_1.gif 36_1_11.gif I have to NSV today! First I noticed that my pants I had on today is ready to be turned out to pasture! YEAH!! I grabbed 2 inches on each side of them. The second is the sterring wheel in the car no longer rubs my belly. So maybe the car will finally realize that I am not a genie. LOL

EXCELLENT! Good for you!

When I weighed in today, I had lost 1.5 more lbs. But the EXCITING part was it two weeks time I had lost .25" in my arms and thighs, an INCH in my waist and HIPS. Gotta be all those DVDs! Gotta love Richard Simmons!

I had two NSVs this past week! First, I went for my fill and my doc said NO. He said "you are doing great. You lost 11 pounds in the last month. You don't even NEED a fill". At first I was bummed because I felt like I went there for nothing, but then I realized that wasnt a bad thing

Second, my best friend slept over yesterday. I woke up and was getting dressed for work and he said "You're shrinking!" He looked under the bed and then back at me and said "where did you go?" LOL that made my day

I finally went shopping and the same size fit. Went home, took off tags and wore that outfit to work on Monday. It was too big! how did that happen? maybe I am smaller in the morning! now I'm stuck with an outfit that I won't wear much. I wish there was a clothese exchange for lap banders close to me.

36_9_1.gifI had another NSV moment today. I was wearing a blouse that I hadn't worn in about 3 weeks. I didn't look at it before going out. When I went to my daughter's home she asked when I was going to get rid of that blouse because it was looking bad because it is so big! Yeah!

Good job everyone else.

I am trying not to buy too many casual clothes, but I have to look decent for work. My pants are getting so big that I cant stand it anymore. So I went to Kohls looking for affordable work wear and guess what!?! I am in a 18 now! Teens!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
