Went to visit my parents yesterday after going for my third fill. I know how much my parents love Dunkin Donuts so I got a dozen for them and my DH and kids. While they were all around the table eating donuts and coffee I was able to sit there and not get tempted to have any.....yes that's right NO DUNKIN DONUTS for me!!!! My mom even commented how proud she was of me not getting tempted and having JUST ONE!! That's how I got as big as I was....with JUST ONE!! I know now that JUST ONE will get me back to where I was before...49 lbs heavier!! I love my band Looosssiiieee!!!

It's wonderful to do it again..but do you still feel like you're in the 20's? I see 16/18 on the tags, but my mind sees 22!!! Still, a WONDERFUL thing!!

Yup! My mind still sees a rather large person in the mirror also. I still can't get used to going to the 18/20's instead of the 24/26s. Do you find yourselves getting bugged because you are a smaller size? I sometimes get angry and can't figure out why?:confused2:

My bug is having "daymares" that I will start to regain this all back, only because I have in the past. It's a wonderful feeling knowing I have this tool now to stop me!

We celebrated our parent's 50th wedd anniv last night at the church I grew up in. Everyone last saw me just a week after my banding. I was so proud of all the "you look greats" I got last night. My uncle couldn't believe the new me. He whispered, "you look sexy!"

Today at church, I wore a size 16 dress. One lady sitting behind me tapped my shoulder, "girl, you're looking great. And I love your new dress." I had to be honest and tell her it was an old dress, one I could finally get back into!!

OH!MY!GOSH! i couldn't stop starring in the mirror yesterday morning... all my "beach towels" are in the dirty pile (bad girl, i know:biggrin:) so all we had left in the linen closet were "regular towels." and guess what???!!! my REGULAR size towel wrapped all the way around and actually covered me!! i haven't had that happen to me since grade school. also, i think im down to a size 18, my 20s don't fit anymore!!!:(

Kiki-I had the same NSV just a week or so ago! I havent bought new towels for a while so I am down to 2 beach towels that I use, while everyone else uses regular bath towels. Anyway, I found that I am now able to use a regular towel too! I am throwing my old beach towels out for good! YAY, US!!

My NSV is that I was co-captian of a Relay for Life team and signed up in April. I needed a 2x Team Captian t-shirt at that time. I hadn't wore my tshirt again until our Relay event last night. I had to trade my shirt in for a LARGE!!! I wore a LARGE last night. I thought I needed an XL but they didn't have any so I told them I would try a Large but it probably wouldn't fit. Well it DID!! I was so surprised and glad I didn' have to wear the 2xl knee length shirt. Our team came in 8th place(raising $2,281.) out of 30 and last night was a great all around success!! WOOO HOOO!

I love to sleep. At least one nap a day. I was even diagnosed with narclepsy and took pills for a while. I want to do things but my mind just gets so tired. I can sleep anywhere.

I heard after losing weight that you get more energy. Right! I wasn't counting on it.

I just spent 4 days cooped up with the family while we outlasted Tropical Storm Fay. No internet, no power for quite a while, no cable tv. Guess what??!!! I never took a nap. Not once. I ended up staying up late watching dvd's, using my laptop's battery power, etc.

I didn't even realize this all important fact until yesterday when I spotted the DH laid back in the recliner taking a nap. For all the grief he has given me in the past 20 years over my napping--I just had to wake him up!

Yeah to me -- this is by far the best, most significant NSV I could ever possibly imagine!

I am no where close to you all that are in the 16's-18's-20's...

BUT...I did go down 2 SIZES in pants and 1 SIZE in tops!!!! That is a big deal for me.

The one thing that I can't wait for is when the casual aquantances start to see that I am losing weight. It's nice to get the compliments from those that see you everyday or know that you had the surgery but when the "outsiders" start telling me positive things then I will be happy!!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
