Is there anyone out there who has had a normal delivery with a band in? My hubby and I are thinking about waiting to have a baby for a while after I get banded, but I still have questions. I saw a lot of women talking on here about having c-sections and I really don't want one unless absolutely necessary, so.... Any help?

The band does not effect your ability to have a vaginal delivery. I have read that some women need to get a slight unfill at some point during their pregnancy. But otherwise you can have a completely normal pregnancy:thumbup:

That must be just a weird coincidence, because like the previous poster said, the band does not limit your delivery options. I plan on having a vaginal birth, unless of course something comes up later. You never know!

I'm only having a C-sec because this is my second child and I had to have a C-sec for my first child....so it's the once a C always a C rule for me. Nothing to do with the band.

I'm pregnant and have had to get an unfill, even though I didn't plan to get one. I may also need to have a c-section (so they tell me), but it is because of what's going on inside, not because of the band in any way.

I had a normal c-section delivery with my first born. He was a scheduled c-sec. but that was mostly due to his size (big!) not the band. I am currently 33 weeks pregnant with baby #2 and have another c-section planned for 7/17 if I make it that far! I have had some complications with this pregnancy - mostly low amniotic Fluid, completely unrelated to the band. With my first pregnancy I had a fill for almost 7 months and only gained about 15 lbs. With this one, because of my low fluid levels, I ended up getting a complete unfill at about 3 months along. I've gained about 20 lbs so far so not too bad. I wouldn't worry too much about the c-section as long as you are prepared either way. With or without the band there is no guarantee of a vaginal delivery - so just be prepared. A healthy baby is the main focus anyway! Oh - also my dr. told me to wait 1 year after surgery to get pregnant. I waited 5! Good luck!

I just had a child 5 months ago and 2 years ago with a band in and had no problems. They let the Fluid out as soon as I found out so the baby would get as much nutrition as possible. The band caused very little problems through the whole pregnany and delivery. I waited 10 months after the surgery to get pregnant and still had no problems.

I had no problems with my pregnancy and band. I did have an unfill at 10 weeks due to severe morning sickness, but went on to have a natural vaginal birth. I started back with fills at 5.5months postpartum due to breastfeeding.

Congrats on your band journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
