Did you notice a big difference in appetite after your first fill?

Recommended Posts

My first fill is Tuesday. I have been looking forward to the day and hope I notice a change. What feels different after a fill? Do you still have to work at not feeling hungry?

I had my first fill yesterday. I have to be honest with you .... the process was so simple and painless! Although, the after - all through the rest of the day and night I was pathetic! I hurt (not like surgery hurt) with heartburn and pressure. I was up until 3 a.m. I called my Doc on Sunday at noon and she felt like it was normal swelling because things are going down. You just have to move a lot slower, use a lot of caution and stay on liquids. She suggested 72 hours of liquids, but right now I am doing good with very thin creme of wheat!! So I will be fine, it is all a new feeling than I had before. Good luck to you and I hope it goes very well for you.

I had my first fill on 5/21. You will notice that u get full faster and u stay full longer. Also alot of the foods u could eat prior to the fill will bother u after. Just remember after your fill...SMALL BITES and CHEW CHEW CHEW. If u dont u will get pain when it gets stuck going down.

Big difference? For me... no. First fill did pretty much nothing. Just had second fill today. He put in quite a bit so Im betting I will really feel it this time. I dont believe the question really has a 'correct' answer. How it effects YOU really depends on many factors such as size of the band, how much gets put in, how much was in it from surgery, size of your anatomy etc etc. The actual fill was simple and pretty much painless.... but also, your mileage may vary.

I had a fill on May 22nd and it was fine, until late that evening I started having problems swallowing and really bad heartburn. I called the doc's office to make sure everything was okay and they made me come in and have some taken out. Now, I have no restriction. Go figure, I'm sure it just takes time and everyone is different. I have not lost any weight since the fill. But I will not get discouraged.

How much did they put in during the fill? and... how much did they take out?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
