Hi! Congratulations! I hope all is well with your gallblader surgery. Dr. Cavazos performed my surgery. I haven't really been to a group but I'm interested in joining one in the Downtown/Near Northwest side of town.

San Antonio here also! Just got banded July 18 and doing good so far. I lost a few pounds the first few days after surgery, but have been stuck ever since I started the "slider" phase with Soups, oatmeal, and yogurt :( Curious if anyone else recently banded encountered this?? Thanks!

When I started the mushies/soft foods, I actually started gaining back the weight I had lost. At my 2 wk appt, I told the Dr about this weight gain and he gave me a fill then. Just keep at what you are doing!

Oh ok, thanks! I saw the doc today for my 1 week post-op and he said its too early for a fill. I have another appt 1month post-op on 22 August - maybe I can get a fill then if I don't start losing the weight.

Got my first fill today - 1cc. I was pretty surprised when my PA told me that I had 3cc in my band already since surgery...I felt no restriction at all and started to gain some weight back. I wanted her to add as much as possible right away, but she said that they add little by little and try to get into the green zone with as little Fluid as possible because having too much fluid can cause more harm than good. I am on soft foods tomorrow and then slowly back to solids. She wanted to see me back in 2 weeks, but they didn't have an appt. till 11Sept. Depending on my progress, or lack of it, I would get another fill I guess. Hopefully this works! Does anyone know what is an average amount of fluids that it takes to get into the green zone??

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
