zollie72 0 Posted June 1, 2008 Hello, I was banded on 01/28/08 and I had the same feeling, I had to go back to see the doactor and she said I had a bit of air in the band. She put an empty needle in my port and remove the air, once that was done it was instant relief. Hope this helps you

msstant 0 Posted June 1, 2008 They blow you full of gas for the surgery so it just takes time to get rid of it. If you only had it done on 5/29 I doubt your doctor will do anything. My husband had bad referred shoulder pain from it for one week and then when he started taking his Tums at one week he didn't have the pain anymore. I had a little gas issue for a couple of days that went away on it's own. Don't worry it'll get better quickly.
sharont81 0 Posted June 1, 2008 The gas will get better, I had it bad for about one week. I found walking and moving as much as I could helped me. The pain though in my left shoulder had me in tears. It does get better, if you are unsure call your doctor. Better to be safe. Hang in there!!!
gdf18 2 Posted June 1, 2008 The surgery gas went away fairly soon, but I find I am very gassy overall. At times my stomach makes so much noise inside that I feel like there's a tornado in there. I will ask my doctor. I have read that you are forever more gassy after the surgery. Partly because of chewing moer. You take in more air. Gwenn
It's_Christine 0 Posted June 1, 2008 I was banded 5/28/2008 and when I woke up from surgery I had the feeling of chest pressure until I was able to belch and it has been all about gas since then! I know I have a lot of swelling because I cannot tolerate anything but clear lquids yet. Called the surgeon's office and they say this happens so just stick with it and to advance my diet as I can tolerate it. I have had almost NO pain and really feel generally better every day. I think this is just a part of the "individualized" nature of the banding experience. Need I add...this too shall pass? :-)
bama_belle 0 Posted June 1, 2008 I was banded on 5/29 as well, and yesterday I was absolutely miserable from the gas. I made a point that every time I felt gas pressure I would get up and walk laps around the interior of my house until it went away. It was way embarrassing last night when I finally cut loose and passed gas. My husband and daughter were in the living room, I'm in the bathroom, and apparently they both heard me because they were giggling like crazy. I told my husband he was just jealous. The best advice I can give is bear with it and walk it off. It will take several days for the gas they gave you for the surgery to pass. As far as gas from your diet, Gas-X strips are what my surgeon suggested. So far, I haven't had to use them. I feel great today. I did have a little gas this morning when I got up, but I'm much better now. I even cooked Breakfast for my family this morning!
