OK guys, this is gonna sound crazy as hell, and I want to know if anyone else here has felt this:

I haven't been banded yet, but sometimes I wonder if I already had the surgery and forgot about it.....lately I'm missing meals and not feeling hungry, and when I DO eat, it seems like I get filled rather quickly. Is it sympathy pains for my fellow banded brothers and sisters? Or am I seeing into the future with my gut??? Or am I just a bit loco??:biggrin2:

Actually, this has happened to me too over the past 2 weeks. However, I've been sick with bronchitis. That said, I'm feeling better and still don't really feel hungry. I ordered pizza last night for my "last meal" and it didn't even taste good. It's starting to get a little depressing simply because I don't have an interest in food. I think my mind is trying to prepare me for my pre-op diet maybe. I don't know...but you're not alone.

I don't think you are crazy at all!

I am going through the same thing.

My surgeon asked me to start the South Beach Diet a week ago (just started the process to be banded a few weeks ago).

I have been following it very close and after 1 week I can hardly eat 3 meals a day & I get very full fast.

I do think its great preparation for living with the band...the goal is to eat less!

However, for myself...I'm getting concerned that I will be below the weight/BMI that my insurance requires for approval.

I also worried about being under my weight for approval and my Dr said not to worry...that I was already at the weight that they would quote...for me 6 lbs over min. I am not sure if that is how your surgeons office is but it wouldn't hurt to let them know how you feel...they will prolly tell you what mine told me.

HTH!

Not crazy!

I think we spend so much time thinking about being banded and what life will be like afterwards. There's no way that wouldn't have an affect on our mind. Also preparing for the surgery and thinking/talking about lap-band all the time has made me more "aware" when I'm eating, and I'm noticing true hunger and true fullness.

Yeh, I have wondered the same thing, as I have felt the same way for about the past month. I'm being banded 6/10/08, with no pre-op diet required! I am putting myself on a 1 week liquid diet pre op. Hopefully that will make it not so much of a shock to me to be that way for a week post op! I think that thinking the way we do should be a reassurance that we are ready for this, and we have already changed the hardest part- our mindset! Good luck!

Nope not crazy at all. I have been trying to envision my new life (the feelings, the eating, how will it work, etc.) since April. If you constantly put your mind in that 'place' you will feel as if you already have the band. Our minds are very powerful things.

certainly not crazy. I have lost about 35 lbs since March just thinking about having the band. I know I will lose more when I start low carbing it. I always have to think about eating when I cut way back on the carbs......they are just so horrible to make me want to eat everything in sight.

I think it is great you are able to make those changes....your mind is in a good place :)

I'm practicing eating like a banded person now. As a result, I've lost 10 lb. But whenever I go below that, I get ravenously hungry. I'm hoping the band will fix that for me so that I can continue losing.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
