Who's Getting Banded in July?

Recommended Posts

Please tell us/me more about the packaged liquid meals! I'm not sure I know what you're meaning, and I'm all for anything that will help!

Sure

My bariatric surgeon requires that I follow a two-week pre-op liquid diet and two-week post-op liquid diet. It is a very low calorie (600 calories a day), high in Protein, ketogenic diet. Pre-packaged meals are mixed with Water - my diet consists of skakes, Soups, and pudding.< /p>

I like the pre-made Atkins Advantage shakes and the Isopure drinks that come in glass bottles. They have fruit flavors and a green tea that I had today and really liked. 40g Protein and 160 cal. I've bought them at the Vitamin Shoppe and GNC. I'm on all liquids. Harder than I thought as far as weakness and crankiness, but 7/25 is my light at the end of the tunnel! And I've lost 7 lbs since Monday.

Good wishes!

7 lbs? That is awesome. I'll have to try the shakes and drinks that you recommend. I have a very busy next two weeks with work so I am hoping by keeping busy I won't notice that I am on all liquids. All the best to you on your surgery date!

Two more options to look at! Thanks to both vonnegutk and losing it!

And, this points out another difference in surgeons; I'm on Clear Liquids and Protein Drinks for a week, then 2 weeks of full liquids post op, followed by two weeks of soft diet...liquids and pureed stuff. Every program is a little bit different!

We just want them all to work!

I agree with losing it about the weakness...I have had real food at supper both yesterday and today.

I think I will be OK when I get strict with myself on Tuesday...the nutritionist told us ways to 'load up' the Protein drinks...adding some nonfat dry milk, or canned evaporated milk to the mix.

lunch today was vanilla flavored, with a teaspoon of real orange extract. Kind of like a Creamsicle.

I started this process back in May and can't believe my band-date is coming up so quickly. Question: How have your families and friends responded to your decision to have the lap-band procedure?

Tad,I have had nothing but loving support from all of my friends and family. My husband has come to every meeting and appointment I've been to. I know I am very lucky! (But then again, I am VERY choosy about my friends!)

I've had positive support nearly all the way. My sister is not as enthusiastic, but I personally believe it is because she would like to have the procedure, and has no options for paying for it. My kids are all in favor. Hubby is totally supportive, and even helped me clean out kitchen cupboards so that I could have one cupboard for my food.< /p>

My friends that know have been totally supportive. I feel very lucky!

My husband has been amazing. I've been careful who I tell right now because I told my close friend (who is very overweight), her reaction was very negative. Within a week she had found a reason to end our friendship. I was really thrown.

I'm going on my 4th day of the pre-op diet, and it's not really all that bad-yet! Although, my Dr. told me that I can do the diet option of 2 Protein Shakes per day, then a low-cal dinner (like Lean Cuisine), so maybe that is why it's not so bad. Plus I snack on celery and cucumbers if I get hungry. If I am not losing 1LB. per day then the nutritionist wants me to switch to 3 shake per day instead of a meal. So far so good...the scale says I'm down about 4LBs. Fingers crossed!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
