Unfilled Completely and still can't keep water down???

Recommended Posts

I started having issues on Wednesday 5/28 so I went in the next day to have some Fluid removed, could not drink Water so went in yesterday to have all the fluid removed and as of this morning I STILL cannot keep even water down? I realize I am still swollen but this is rediculous. Should I drink warm/hot water vs. cold? Should I keep trying to drink something and hope that some of it is retaining being that I am pretty sure that I am dehydrated from not keeping anything down for the past two days? HELP any suggestions? :(

have you tried sipping the Water. Only take in small amounts. I would also try room temperature...it is closer to your own bodies temp and might be easier to handle. I would also suggest you call the doc or his nurse.

Good luck!

I have been calling my doctor and he suggested on Wednesday evening that I go in the next morning to have some removed, however I needed to go back in yesterday and have the totally remove all the Fluid. My stomach does not just hurt all the time but as soon as I start sipping Water it starts to ache right away. I will probably give him a call again today as I have lost 5lbs since Wednesday and am positive that I am dehydrated?

I have not been banded yet but I have read the others say that warm liquids go down easier. I would try to sip some hot tea.

Dehydration is nothing to play with if you are going out several days without being able to keep anything down. At this point, since it is continuing and you have had a complete unfill I would think that it might be time to go have some testing done in case you have had a slip.

Cold doesnt work for me when I am readlly tight. It has to be lukewarm or a hot beverage.

I would put in an another emergency call to your doctor. Dehydration is dangerous and very easy if you can't drink anything.

This is an emergency situation, and you may need an i.v. to get some fluids in. When you had the unfill, did you have a fluoroscopy to check the position of your band? If you are still unable to get Water down, don't let this go over the weekend.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
