Hello all!

I'm new here(of course :-P) My name is Louisa, and I was just banded by Dr DiBenedetto in Rochester, NY on Tuesday! I heard about this site from my roommate in the hospital, known here as Sunshinelady(hello!)

Um, let's see... I'm 21 and I've been overweight all my life. I've been on every diet and weight loss program under the sun since I was 11, none worked, obviously. My highest weight was....over 400... and I am now 300lbs exactly, according to my scale(I was at 379lbs when I first went to see Dr Dibenedetto)

I'm loving the whole not hungry thing, though I have to make myself eat the Jello and stuff they want me to eat(I'm not much of a sweets person, unless it's starchy. or ice cream) Honestly, I'd rather just have Water, but it's always best to follow the Doctor's orders, of course:tongue_smilie:

Hey Louisa,

Good to know that everything is going okay for you. It has been pretty much pain free and I AM NOT HUNGRY(YET)!!!! The Jello has been the worst for me; I HATE IT. So, instead I do Water, tea, gingerale. Can't wait until Sunday when I can have something more substantial than Clear Liquids. Guess what, I went into to hospital at 225 lbs and came out 232 lbs. Well, keep up the good work, I know you will do well. OH YEAH, how's andrey????????

I don't think you should drink gingerale b/c of the carbon it may make you gassy. stick to the Water and tea.

Thanks one4you2belike! I'm thrilled with things so far :-D

SunshineLady- yep, I'm pretty much pain free as well...the first night I was home I had some pain, but other than that I'm good :-) I am starting to be hungry, though. Argh. Yep, just waiting and waiting until Sunday :w00t: (and everyone else is eating Mac&cheese right now:drool: eek!) I haven't heard word one from Andrey. Though it's pretty much what I expected, it still makes me kinda sad.

slimm2b-Our Dr has us drinking decarbonated sugar free ginger ale and such. so no worries there :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
