Hello everyone. I am BashFul from Houston, Texas and I was banded May 16, 2008, at Park Plaza Hospital. The procedure was quick and painless.......I was up and walking within no time, eager to go home. By the end of the day I was home. The first 3 days I had no appetite, I but made my self sip on some homemade chicken broth, Protein Drink (Isopure-pineapple, orange and banana) very tasty. I slept most of the time but able to get up and walk on my treadmill 2-3 times a day, but not 30 minutes each, just through out the day:sleep:. This made me feel better, the walking helped me to relieve the gas on my left side. I have not been filled as of yet, so far so good:thumbs_up:. I am able to eat fish small portions, grits (watered down) oatmeal and cream of wheat. For vegetables mushy --broccoli and green Beans.< /p>

Wow, that's great! I was banded 5/23, and I just started to eat scrambled eggs, cottage cheese and applesauce. Can't fit only like 3-4 oz. I asked my Dr. about that today and he said that might be all I can fit. I hope he didn't mean forever. I had a terrible time with the gas; it made it hard for me to breath and hard to get rid of. I really didn't have any appetite until today.

Hey bashfulnbouncy, congratulations, I am also from Houston, I had mine at Physcian surgery center, but my Dr also uses Park Plaza, I will bet we have the same Dr. Your diet sounds the same!! So does your recovery. If he is the same, he is great. I just had my third fill today, and am doing well. I am losing what I call slow and steady, no restriction at all. No bad side affects yet. Lost lots of inches too!!! I was banded March 28. Good luck

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
