star453a 0 Posted June 1, 2008 I was banded on May 13th. I have lost 30 lbs and 2 1/2 inches. I have absolutely no regrets. This was a hard sell to my wife. She just didn't fell that it was needed. Since then she has changed her mind and is actually losing a litt.le weight herelf(not that she needed to). Since I work outside and HATE Gatorade I began drinking Powerade. That has helped me lose the craving for sodas. Dennis
Coco6399 0 Posted June 1, 2008 The band was the best thing I have done for myself. I do not look at it as giving up something such as sodas or bread, but I look at it as gaing a new life for myself. The only things I am giving up are diabetes, high blood pressure and sleep apnea. period. I have lost twenty pounds since I started my pre-op diet until now and all I can say is wow. My clothes do not fit me tight anymore, I can walk two or three miles without huffing and puffing. I am very happy with my band.
Carrie_C 9 Posted June 1, 2008 I feel the same way, Coco. And think of how much funner it will be shopping for clothes in NORMAL sizes!
Northwest_Nance 0 Posted June 1, 2008 I would strongly encourage you to put yourself first. Think of your health and what is best for you. It's disappointing that your husband isn't putting your health first, but you have to make this choice for you and a longer, happier future! Standing up for yourself and doing what you know is right for you, will make you feel great too. I think it's natural to have second thoughts.... most of us go through a time where we wonder if we're making the right decision, but I think that just shows that we're being realistic about it and thinking it through carefully! I was banded on May 15th; I was self-pay too and one small consolation is that the cost is tax deductlble, so I'll get a small portion of the money back in early 2009. Good luck to you! I am sure if you have the surgery, you will be very glad you did.
