Hi y'all,

I'm Karen and live in Texas. I was banded on 3/21/05 and have lost about 15lbs so far. I told my doctor that I wanted to go to bed tonight and wake up skinny tomorrow. Of course I realize that isn't possible however a girl can dream. I have about 70-80lbs to lose. My goal is to wear a size 10. I haven't done that in 8-10 years. I look foward to being a part of this group and hearing how everyone is getting along. Talk to y'all later. Karen

Hi, Susie!

I am from a small town north of Beaumont, Tx. I've lived here for about 30 years off and on. I am originally from Georgia, north of Atlanta. I was banded on 3/21/05 with my first fill just last week on 4/18/05. I had my first real meal today since the fill. It is definitely different. I'm so glad you wrote to me. I look foward to hearing from you again. Talk to you later. Karen

Thanks for your welcome. I look foward to hearing from everyone as well as reading all the info on this sight. I had my surgery 3/21/05, lost 12lbs by my first fill on 4/18 and am down another 2 this week. It's slow. I want to go to bed tonight and wake up skinny tomorrow!!! I know that is a fantasy but it's a great one. Talk to you later...Karen

Hi Karen, Congratulations on your new band and your weight loss

For what it is worth I started this journey 1 year ago at 265 and a size 20/22

Iam now 175 and a size 10

Never thought I'd see a size 10 ever , I do not ever remeber being a size 10 , so it is possible

You will be a size 10 in no time

Best of luck to you I hope you have a possitive & successful journey :D

Thanks so much, La Madam. I know I will see a size 10. At the moment I am a very loose 20. Only 10 sizes to go. I'll do it! Bye. Karen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
