My little Merry is doing really great -- today when I was home for lunch she jumped up on the couch - she ran up the stairs this morning and she's been going down the stairs by herself since Wednesday. So for right now she's almost back to normal - she hasn't tried to run much but I'm sure she will soon. We are happy we made this decision. She's had a good appetite since the surgery and her bandage comes off tomorrow. Things are good with her.

Melissa, hope you are on the mend -- sending healing vibes your way.

I am glad Merry is doing well and the surgery weny well

Linda, no baby yet. Her name will be Bethany. We put all her clothes in the drawers today. OMgoodness, I can't believe all the gowns and onesies her big sister had. Some of them were never worn. My DD had a little meltdown today....said she doesn't know how she is going to handle two kids. Young mom's these days have so much information I think it causes more anxiety. She will be fine. I am glad we live close to each other. I hope she goes into labor tomorrow or Sunday.

I hope the for baby comes wheb she is ready and not to early. And yes weather it is babies or anything else you have to much info at your finger tips. Heck when I have any procedure I always look it up yes you get scared but i always want to be informed. i love looking at any crays ot scans done on myself it intrests me.

I am glad you have happy feet now.:)

Will try to do them myself and then just take them to the printer.... saves money... Do I sound cheap????

Noyou do not sound cheap if you can d it. I say do it save money where you can and splurge where you need to. almost any order the Microsoft programs will take you through it especially microsoft works and word. I think it will be easy I probably could help since I am still not working write now. Let me know if you run into anytrouble

Melissa - Hope you are feeling better - sounds like you are doing goo on your food

Well I came home from work and needed to take some pictures - I've been approached by a marketing group to be in an ad campaign for LAP-BAND®®® - go look on my profile where pple leave messages ..

...

Janet - that is awesome they want to pick you for marketing b4 and after:biggrin:

Okay now can you tell me when we all or still do have to buy bigger clothes why are all tue prints crazy,or bright, or have some big stupid pin on them. I know you do not shop there but if you every look at plus size store say Lane Bryant the clothes are crazy. Some are beautiful don't get me wrong but it loks like someone threw up color on them

Hey guys, I'm a size 10/12 also. At 5' 9" I forget how much I tower over many women. I caught sight of myself in a mirror in a public washroom in downtown Chicago and was startled by how large I am. I'm proportionate and didn't look fat--just statuesque. Dutch people tend to come rather large and so do many African-Americans and those are the people I'm around. Heck, my daughter's 5'11" as is my one sister, and my baby sister, Kris, will only admit to 6". My sister's are finer boned than me, and less curvy. But in a major metropolitan area, I had a multi-ethnic group around me and I really stood out. For a second, I still felt fat, but reminded myself that I'm proportionate to my height.

Cheri

I think you are wonderful size. i guess i am little jealus because to be 10/12 in a 5'9 frame is a goal of mine. Way to go keep reminded your self you are not fat.

As for me it is 3:40 am and I woke up sweating. I guess my body is getting over the Bronchitis. I had to call my Dr yesterday cause it was getting even more difficult to breathe yesterday. (So she put me in Ventolin inhaler 1 - 2 puffs every 4 to 6 hrs, then Prednisone 40 mg tab I started at 40 mg then weaning down to 0 on Wed. i felt so much better after I got the inhaler and I am not big on inalers. I am also still on Hydromet for my coughs as needed and levquin for the antibotic so i hope) I am finally on the mend. Beacuse my DH and I had been envited to a adult only rafting trip next weaken which i so want to go to I never have been but always wanted to go.

Good Morning Peeps

Damn Dogs - up at 4:30 have the alarm set for 5:30 since I have gym at 8 - so why go back to bed.. I think I will be napping this afternoon - but wait - I gotta be at the gym by 9 tomorrow...

Well no rest for the wicked..

Melissa - I don't know if they are going to choose me Will see if I get chosen - wanted me to write and exciting short blurp about my life now - well - I'm not a writer and I don't do short ;0) - this is what I wrote

3 yrs ago I was 52 yr old and morbidly obese, I had no energy - I was sleeping my life away. I would always take the elevators, park as close to the store as possible, I would avoid anything that had to do with physical activity . I couldn't keep up with life - the weight was limiting my quality of life. Plus I have 3 grand children who I want to see grow up - I wanted to participate in their lives, not be sitting on the sidelines.

Fast forward 3 yr - 114 lbs gone... I feel 10 yrs younger have 110% more energy - Now I have more energy than my grand kids - they can't keep up with me.. I took my Grandson on a cruise a year ago for his 18th birthday. He slept more than I did - I was able to go zip lining with my grandson - a 1st for me, something I couldn't do at 250 lbs, that was such a moment - to know that I could do something like that and not be held back because I was above the weight limitation plus I could have never hiked up the hills.. That was one of the best experiences .

My band wasn't the easy way out.. I have learned that this is a lifetime lifestyle change - I am eating healthy (not dieting) - I am going to the gym (cardio & lifting weights)

-Thanks to my bad with it's help in Portion Control and my good food choices and exercise - I now have my life back.. I am now living life and not sitting on the side lines watching it pass me by..

I am now a 55 yrs old woman - who hopefully has added some years to my life by losing the weight and hopefully will be around to maybe see some great grand kids ;0)..

Oh ya I included my zip lining photo ;0)..

Hugs on being sick - it's the pits - glad you went to the Doctors and you should be able to go rafting next weekend - Labor Day weekend ;0)

Clothes - well some are for the 20 yr olds - But again I like color even at 250 I wore patterns and color as you can see by the 2 before pics - the one in the white skirt - I remember thinking I looked cute - well I sure don't look cute in that picture..

A lady I worked with who was a bbw too (big beautiful woman) and I always said we wanted to design clothes for BBW's that were flattering - Some of the stuff they make is for thinner pple.. They make alot of sleeveless clothes for bbw - hell even now (for smaller sizes) I would like to see more stuff with longer sleeves - especially formal clothing -

Oh last night I had a relapse - I found these cheap version of cheeto puffs in the pantry (andrew bought them at the 99 cent store) - well I ate them not the whole bag but what was left which was about 2 maybe 3 servings - they were really greasy (you all know how much i Love grease ;0) - well I had one serving in a little bowl - that was ok - but then went back and ate the rest of them - they weren't that good - but I kept eating - then woke up w/reflux - not so much acid cuz I take an acid reducer - but woke up with a little choking had to run to the toliet but nothing really came up..

So see I'm not perfect - and that sorta ruin any other treats this weekend - plus I'm all swollen up from the salt.... I gotta work my butt of today at the gym...

Plans this weekend none really - I need to Iron my clothes - last week trying to get dressed was a bitch - everything needs ironing and I don't always have time in the morning - so I think that's what I am doing this weekend..

Temps are suppose to cool majorly 98 on Sunday - it's nice out right now.. Should be good pool weather - may take the dogs swimming - wear their little butts out..

Well drying just stopped - so better get the stuff out - CBL

If you were perfect we would be calling you GOD, not Janet.

We just went up north a bit, quick boat ride, came home finished salsa I started earlier in the day.

Today I am going with my Mom and Sister for the night. We are celebrating our birthdays, shopping, hot tubbing, pool, & maybe the casino. We have never done this before or in a very very long time. My Sister turns 50 next week. Crazy Mom had 3 kids in 3 yrs all born in August. Busy month for us.

Janet, you look Maaaahvelous Dahling. You were also beautiful at 250 lbs. and I love your clothes. You always were a clothes horse. I'm with you on the longer sleeves. I love 3/4 length. I've always had heavier upper arms, muscular from swimming but the big kind of muscle, not the well-defined muscles on wiry women. But I've never been afraid of color. 240 lbs doesn't look any thinner in solid dark colors than it does in bright colorful clothes that play up your face and coloring and reflect a cheerful, positive outlook on life. So Melissa, don't be afraid of the color or the patterns. Look at Janet's pictures, She looks great in colors and patterns. I love the all the colorful things that are out now.

But I've always been a person who avoided beige, taupe, sand, olive, mauve, etc. Some people think those are classy colors. They look OK on a few women with the right skin and hair tones but mostly they make Dutch and other Northern European people look like they belong in a casket. So many "mother-of-the-bride" dresses used to come in those colors. I remember thinking I'd never wear colors like that because as fancy as those dresses were, they did nothing for most of the wearers.

I'm a "winter" if you remember having your colors done, so I look good in black and dark brown and white, and bright, primary red, blue, and yellow, and I can do soft, sherbet summer colors and more intense versions of those colors for fall because my hair is ash (grey) blonde at the crown and sides with dark brown in the back. I have the pale, blue undertoned rather than yellow skin with a lot of pink in my skin and dark blue/grey eyes that can look teal or aqua or a lighter blue when I wear those colors. I look horrible in olive, tans, and many orange and gold shades. I can wear the peach/tangerine/coral shades of orange, sherbet greens, most pinks (not mauve) and the buttery shades of yellow. I look good in all purple and pink shades that range between red and blue.

I love color and delight in it. When people wear colors that flatter them, that make them "pop," I really notice and appreciate them,no matter what their weight. Clothes are like wearable art. They tell a lot about who you are and what you think about yourself.

Laura K. Loved the "if you were perfect, you'd be God." Being able to forgive yourself and not guilt yourself for sometimes eating things that aren't the healthiest choice is one of the things that keeps us from feeling shame, and feeling shame tends to lead to binge eating. Which makes us feel ashamed. Which makes us eat more food. Which makes us feel depressed. Which makes us eat more food. Etc., etc., etc.

Melissa - I don't know if they are going to choose me Will see if I get chosen - wanted me to write and exciting short blurp about my life now - well - I'm not a writer and I don't do short ;0)

I had to save what you wrote I think that blurb stands for all of us and probably be a great toll for me to write on to see were I came from were I got and where I fell off or let's say lost my way.

Hugs on being sick - it's the pits - glad you went to the Doctors and you should be able to go rafting next weekend - Labor Day weekend ;0)

I hope this gets better I have never been and I really want to go do something physical. Also there is a zip line that just open up north of me that my DS wants to go to.

Clothes - well some are for the 20 yr olds - But again I like color even at 250 I wore patterns and color as you can see by the 2 before pics - AC lady I worked with who was a bbw too (big beautiful woman) and I always said we wanted to design clothes for BBW's that were flattering - Some of the stuff they make is for thinner pple.. They make alot of sleeveless clothes for bbw - hell even now (for smaller sizes) I would like to see more stuff with longer sleeves - especially formal clothing -

I think alot of us overweight woman want to design clothes for the BBW that whould flatter them and not make you look like a circus tent. Just like what you said They make clothes for a thin person and then add more fabric to make it for a larger woman. Okay lets go here why did Lane Bryant start using thinner models in there stores. That says so much. Except for Dove, fruit of the Loom and others choose to still using BBW as there models. Oh yea and the sleeveless thing what is that all about :)

Oh last night I had a relapse - I found these cheap version of cheeto puffs in the pantry (andrew bought them at the 99 cent store)

OMG not the 99 cent ones they suck big time. The cheetos puffs are my weakness too. If I slip I only by the small bags from the store then I am stuck with that one only

So see I'm not perfect CBL - Janet

I know you are not perfect and not really easy but you and Apples and many others in maintance have offered so much wonderful advice and really care when we all slip and still do not care to give us the same info you have before even if you do you don't show us.-

Oh I am with you bost on the 3/4 sleeve much better on me than sleevless I have chunky upper arms nothing like Janet's.

LOL oh I do agree I don't where those colors. I love where bright colors I just remember whering the ones that make you look like a tent. My mom wore a fair purple color when I got married it was a pretty color on here.

I am not sure what my color is cause I have brown hair brown eyes and very light skin now I live in GA and not near the beach in Fl. I where some of the same colors..

It is so true that BBW that were brights colors do make the pop in a good way

Cheri - I should have had you write my bio - but again - it wouldn't be short - but you are very good at articulating your thoughts - I'm not - I assume pple can understand what I am trying to say..

Yep - I love color - I must be a winter too cuz primary colors are best on me - all the colors that are good on you are good on me - I have a little olive and some oranges though..

Melissa - Being able to zip line - being able to do exercise classes - being able to walk and do things all day without my feet hurting - being able to vacuum the house and not break out in a sweat - Those are the rewards - having my life back is a reward - just so sad that I didn't realize years ago how much my weight was affecting my life (limiting it)

I have never in my life been as physical as I am today - and it amazes me even now.. But I'm loving it..

I don't feel bad about the puffs - it is what it is - it's done and over with - just wanted you all to know that there are things I can't stop sometimes still - mostly just pissed that I continued to eat them even when they weren't that tasty ;0)

See - you do Janet's tricks- just buy a small bag so that when it's gone - it's gone ;0) WTG You are making changes.

Well back from the gym - dusted - replaced 1 a/c filter and washed the grate - washed a couple dusty doors - need to go get the ironing board moved to the living room and put on a movie and get my clothes ironed..

Janet your pics are fabulous both before and after - before really shows what a huge change has been made. I think what you wrote was great -- very well done and what you wrote would be considered "short" enough for that purpose -- they just don't want someone to write 5000 words. I love color too (just one more way we are so much alike) and have always worn color and prints no matter what my size. I had to laugh at your comment about how you thought you looked cute in the skirt - well you did look cute -- for your size but oh how much cuter and healthier you look now -- that's what I notice right away -- the healthier look we all have after losing weight. You did not look like you even felt well in those before pics and I'm sure you didn't feel well.

LauraK, have a great time with your family -- sounds like fun -- enjoy and have fun celebrating all three birthdays. Your mom and dad must have enjoyed spending time together over Thanksgiving (9 months before August). LOL.

Cheri, I live around a lot of Dutch people here and I've always thought the women are especially beautiful and elegant -- my DDIL is dutch and she is tall and beautiful too. As my DS is 6'5" they are a good match - she's 5'11" I think. On the other hand I'm now lucky if my head reaches the 5'1" mark -- and so I always wish I were taller. Nothing is made for short people - especially cupboards, shelves in grocery stores, etc. It never fails that I have to ask a taller person to reach things for me in a store. I guess I need to carry around either a step stool or one of those grabbers. I had an accident once last year -- I was trying to reach frozen yogurt in the freezer section and it was on the top shelf and I was jumping trying to reach it and knocked one off that landed on my shin and I had a giant goose egg -- it was so painful.

Julie, hope the pain has subsided somewhat today. I'm so sorry that you have to go through so much pain all the time. I wish there was something someone could do to alleviate it until you go to mayo.

Melissa, glad the inhalers are helping -- hope you are well enough to go next weekend, sounds like fun. Hope you get better every day -- good thing you aren't working cause if so you'd have been stressing out about missing work or you would have went to work sick and that wouldn't have been good either.

Well, we took Merry's bandages off today -- so I took pics. Hope they don't bother any of you -- she's doing so well and her inicision looks great. BTW Janet, it was the right front leg. Remember when we had her groomed last time and I said they went a little crazy with the shears -- and then they had to shave her more for the surgery -- she looks "skinned" and so skinny - can't wait til her longer hair grows back in again. We took her for a car ride (her favorite thing) last night. DGD was with us and so we stopped and got them some soft ice cream (another of Merry's favorite things).

I got my butt back to the gym this morning and had a good workout - 35, 45 and 30. Oh Janet, confession is good for us -- I never did admit to the fair food I ate - I had quite a few "bites" of fried things but my biggest downfall was the cheese/caramel popcorn mix (in the same bag) -- I inhaled a whole bag (probably about 3 cups - not a huge bag) of it the day we too Aylah to the fair and then HAD to HAVE another bag when we went to see the Family Stone -- there, i admitted it - honestly though, it tasted fabulous to me -- really good -- sorry your slip wasn't at least tasty. All in all this week I did okay -- went to the gym Sun., and Water aerobics Mon. and Friday and back to the gym today so I guess I won't die. I feel like I'm not working out enough but I think my body needs the break.

Gotta get busy - got some chores that need done.

Linda

Hope you get better every day -- good thing you aren't working cause if so you'd have been stressing out about missing work or you would have went to work sick and that wouldn't have been good either.

I thought of that too If I was at work I would be freaking out about missing the work I do not think I would be in this stage of my recovery. So good thing I got laid off now I can have me time

Well, we took Merry's bandages off today -- so I took pics. Hope they don't bother any of you -- she's doing so well and her inicision looks great. We took her for a car ride (her favorite thing) last night. DGD was with us and so we stopped and got them some soft ice cream (another of Merry's favorite things). LauraK - Thanks - I forgot how loyal you were - aren't you the one who was going to get us on the Oprah show to tear her a new one about her thinking WLS was the easy way out - omg if all of us from this board could get on there - we would show her wouldn't we.. Oh know I think that was Linda who was suppose to do that..:)

Salsa - sounds good but - then I want mexican food which for me requires cheese and it's something that I do limit -

Ya I do look heathlier don't I - might have something to do w/my bottle tan ;0) - no I really do agree I look healthier - the blue blouse was a before for yet another diet - I think it was 5/06 and I was going on opitfast w/a gf - well that didn't last long ;0)

Even when I was obese - I would prance around if I thought I had a cute outfit on ..

Oh they took Merry's whole leg - I don't know why but I thought she would have a stump.. Looks really good though - she looks good.. I have never given mine ice cream ;0) they are fat enough..

As to your fair food - it was one day and you are allowed to enjoy - when I'm on vacation or away from home - i have a few more treats than what I do at home - home is my safe haven and when I get home - I go back to healthy eating - Like when I met Peaches in LV one yr - I had busicuts and gravey for Breakfast - when I went to Temecula w/my gf a month or so ago - I had busicuts and gravy for bf - I just eat like that occassionally not every day - that's the secert - just every now and then - eat healthy 98% of the time - treats 2% and I don't think of those as cheats - but last night was a waste ;0) - but had to tell cuz of that - it was a waste of precious calories and it didn't taste good - and that I kept on eating it instead of throwing it away..

Hello everyone,

Posting backwards....

Phyl, the pictures are great...happy couple and is that their baby? Isn't that supposed to happen afterwards? LOL don't think those rules apply anymore. So if you are going to be on I-10 on the return trip, are you stopping by to visit me? I'm in Tucson. You can park the RV up here on my street.

Lori, have fun this weekend with girl bonding!! I envy your ability to take off and go with DH. We'll get there someday.

Laura, I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time right now. So funny about the repair people affair but so sorry you actually have to see them...butt cracks and all. I pick up the house too before the cleaning lady come. I don't clean, just pick up the mess so she doesn't have to. I'd rather have her cleaning than picking up my or DH's mess.

Julie, isn't it funny those cats have to be right in your way when you are on the computer. When DH's has to get into my computer he always comments about how much cat fur is in there. The only time the cat wants pets is when I'm at the computer. No you do not sound cheap, weddings are expensive and if you can save money, do it. I did my invitations myself and really enjoyed doing them. I'm hoping to have enough time and energy to do my Christmas cards this year.

Charlene, so this is Saturday night, no baby yet? Glad you found some shoes that work. It's magic when your feet feel good. I walked probably 4 miles today in my new Merrills and my feet are doing fine. Part of the walk is on rocks and they have aggressive enough soles (trail walking shoes) that I couldn't feel the rocks through them. You'll actually get to see them in Vegas.

Linda, Merry looks really good. I'm so glad to hear her recovery is going well. It's amazing what animals live with and we never really know how they feel. Good for you and getting back to the gym. It does feel good to get a good workout in.

Cheri...I really like the beige, tan, olive colors and have quite a few clothes in those colors. I also have some other stuff but I'm kind of a dirt person and like dirt colored clothes. I did buy a really red t-shirt recently and I do enjoy wearing that. I also wear a lot of white. The Church of the Inner Spring....cute! So sorry about your niece. I do hope they find something to help her.

Jodi, your village sounds charming even if it is a city. That was very cool of you to let your daughter and her friend have their space. You certainly know your kids. If I had any, I would love to have you around for advise. I love the idea of living close enough to walk to stuff. I could walk to me grocery store, but then I'd need a ride home because it's all up hill and about 2 1/2 - 3 miles. I could walk that far I think, but not carrying groceries or even a pizza.

Melissa, are you starting to feel better with that nasty bronchitis? It's good to see you posting more too. Take care of yourself girl!

Janet, so you might be more famous than you are now? That would be so cool. You deserve any and all recognition that you get for your accomplishment. Yeah, I wish there were designers that worked with large women of all shapes. I find pants are sometimes made for women with hips which they added to my stomach instead of my hips. I'm also with you about the sleeves. I never go sleeveless, haven't since I was in high school. Nice blurb you wrote!

LauraK sounds like you have a fun family and yes, your Mom was busy. Guess she wanted to get the diaper thing over with quickly..LOL. Hope you have a great time!!

Hello Joyce, what's keeping you busy these days?

Judy, I know you are out there too.

Hi Apples! Okay, I'm sure I've missed people again. Hello to everyone.

Met with financial planners this week and we hosted FNSC yesterday. I dropped the real estate class because I just couldn't do that on top of everything else. So today I got laundry, watering, bills, dinner, and many games of free cell done and tomorrow I'll be in Baltimore. We are going to another show, Rodrigo and Gabriella. My sister-in-law will meet us there and go to the show with us. She lives in Annapolis, so it's not too far.

We actually had rain this evening and it's cooled off a bit yeah.

I did walk this morning about 4 miles...took me 1 hour 20 minutes and it isn't flat. I live in a hilly area and it's up hill all the way home. I'm please with the walk because I wasn't totally wiped out from it. My goal is to get up to 6 miles and not have to sleep for the rest of the day.

Okay, I'll be off the web until probably Tuesday. Hope you all have a great Sunday.

Eva

Phyll, love the hair. You're beautiful. Your dog was smiling--is that possible?

Linda, Merry looks terrific. So bright-eyed and alert. Looks like she lives up to her name.

Saw my Tennesse Dr. sister today for several hours. She leaves early in the a.m. to go back to TN.

I'm going to have to take up texting. And IMing. And checking my e-mail on my phone. My sister was texting my other sister and getting updates on Olivia. She was texting her daughter and son and so on. If Phyll can handle all this technology, maybe I can too. I just think I'll probably constantly misplace my phone like I do my coffee.

Anyway, I'm tired and need to go to sleep. Have a colorfull day tomorrow and enjoy your day of rest and re-creation.

Cheri

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
