Hey Janet - our notes crossed here and I missed your note about the commercial TOMORROW! You will do great - I wish we could all see it. Better yet - I wish we could all be there to kibbitz while you are filming, no need for a script, we would all just be laughing and having fun together. What a commercial that would be.

The shots are actually Euflexxa - a cartilage replacement type of shot. I had a round of 3 in March and they did help. Doc said I could have another round in the fall - gonna call him tomorrow. The goal is to get the weight well down before the knee replacement.

I kinda thought the book was about me, but if you want it to be about you I'll share.

I had a round of shots just before banding. I had Synvisk (sounds like your Euflexxa) that was something made from rooster combs that was to cushion the joint. I am going to have another round of those this fall as well. but also just 3 weeks before surgery I went on an Alaskan cruise and got a steroid shot before the cruise. Before I did I checked with my surgeon and he was totally fine with it. He knew all about both types of shots and said they wouldn't interfer. Maybe different docs have different opinions on that, but just wanted to add it wasn't a factor for me. I think instead of the earrings I am going for the matching wallet for my new Coach purse I got for 50 lbs!! I get that in 9 more at 75.

Janet, good luck tomorrow!

Ellen, where are you? Miss seeing you around these parts!! Have you gotten any help at home? Have you found some me time?? Have you talked to our friend??

Yep, all drs are different. My injection was an epidural injection near the spine. I haven't ever had knee injections.

I had Synvisc injections probably 7-8 yrs ago. They helped for a while but not as much as steroid injections I'd had a couple of years before that. Good plan to get the weight down before replacement. I had partial on the right and hardware is collapsing down because of the weight loss. So have to get down to BMI 40 before it gets converted to a total and then total on the other knee. Surgeon says that way he can be pretty sure that won't happen again. He only wants to do them ONCE! I'm all for that!

The only thing I would really say to splurge on is like a submarine sandwich - or any kind of sandwich you like that comes on a roll or thick bread... If you really like a sandwich/sub that's on thick bread - eat it now :)

I second that! We stopped at a truck stop in our travels yesterday.. There was a Subway inside so DH wanted to get lunch. I told him only if they had those little round sandwiches, or else bring me a cup of chili. Well he comes out with a chicken wrap.... 12" tortilla! I'm sure! i have to be nice! I pulled off the end of the wrap and ate the insides with a fork! I can't do soft flour tortilla any better than thick bread! I've had one of their subs a couple of times, but eating VERY slowly and throwing away much of the bread.

Joann - congrats on the date. It will be here before you know it.

Long - great job on your weight loss. I'm very impressed. I'm stalled and it is frustrating, but I'm not discouraged. I'm still working on the necessary "head changes" that need to happen. I had my second fill yesterday so I'm on liquids for 3 days. I'm sure that will kick-start things.

I don't know how you guys stay on top of these threads (lol)! I try to stay connected on 50+, July Bandsters, and here. It seems like we're all intertwined on the same three threads! I can't remember who posted what on which thread!!

Kathy

PS - Fall foliage is in full swing here in Vermont. It is spectacular!

I mainly visit here, 50+ and the June threads, however, my June thread isn't real active so I post my losses more in the May one. I originally thought I was going to be May 29th and had started out there before being moved to June. Then I visit here and there. LOL Some days I have more times than others. I used to chat a lot but haven't made it there in awhile. Plus the chat isn't usually about banding and things related it seems.

I lost 3 lbs in Las Vegas!! I hit 69 this morning!! And passed the halfway mark to goal!! AHHHH!!!!! what a feeling!

Oh and got a phone call from my parents, they are coming to visit next Tues or Wed for a week. They have not seen me nor do they know I had weight loss surgery. Anxious to see what they will say. My sis says not to get my hopes up, Mom is very negative, which is why I didn't tell them in June I was having the surgery. but now what can she say almost 70lbs later??

Kathy - Didn't know you lived in Vermont - My Aunt had a house on lake champange - I spent 2 summers there ..

I post here - my Lucky # 7 and the 50 thread when I can - But yes they do intermingle... That's why I do the quote thing so I know who I am responding to and also it help's other when reading

Phyl - that's the only thing I miss is a big sandwich - I didn't eat them often - for me just to eat the guts is a waste - so I just eat something else.. We don't go to sandwich places for lunch unless they have Soup or salad. I can do tortillas sometime and like chicken other times I can't

I had a turkey wrap yesterday for lunch kid size - burpped and was very full..

Kathy - That would be so cool - Ya you can come over one night and have a one pot wonder with me :) - I would love it !!!!! Can't wait !!!!

Lori - OMG YOU ARE LOSING WEIGHT LIKE A BYPASS GIRL !!!!! What a shock they are in for. Heck tell them the truth you are eating healthy and exercising.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Ok gang - back from shooting my TV commercial - I think it went well - they will cut and paste what they want - so I will be interested in seeing the final product..

There was a Husband & Wife team and a Nurse who had bypass and then me & a guy named Cid who where banded..

They are going to give me a cd of the commercial - so now just have to figure out how to post it - might have to upload it to you tube or something??? I don't know how to do that crap - but guess I will figure it out..

Ok I gotta get my to work- I was gone for 2 hours...

Talk to you all to night....

I think I did ok - we all flubbed up - but they will take what they shot and edit it - I can't wait to see what they kept !!!

Here what I wore - White jeans & purple top... My hair came out good and so did my make up - I was pretty happy this morning - I was freaking out that I would end up having a bad hair day - or a big zit would pop out :(

But all in all I was pretty happy - and that's saying alot cuz I am hyper critical of myself:rolleyes:

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      3. buildabetteranna

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
