You hate all the things I like ;0) I guess I don't have adhd lol - I am a girly girl - was a disco queen back in the day.. I like outdoor stuff now a days (camping - riding quads- boating)

have nails - jewelry - like my coach purses

I do have a hard time sitting still - like in a movie or presentations..

I am an ok housekeeper - my house doesn't look like a model home 24/7 it does look lived in at times..

My closet isn't super organized - but will go thru it every now and then - and color code it.. It' doesn't stay that way for too long - like right now - waiting for winter to come so I can switch out clothes from one closet to the other..

Great - no I would freak if I lost my job - I need the health insurance - and $$ too - I would be ok for a while - but I have to work - I would have to go into retirement $$$ and I don't want to do that.

Giving pto back sucks - well they can't take away what you have earned - but next yr they might cut out days and that and this furlough stuff is going to really demoralize the whole office - But they know they have us by the short hairs cuz there are no other places to go to work for - so yes lucky to have our jobs..

Hope your Dh doesn't get furloughed either

Great on the knee & food - I had 4 oz ck & spinach salad for lunch today - am getting a little hungry - I love it when I stay full all afternoon... I guess I don't need a fill..

Hi guys!

I am getting banded in less than 48 hrs. I am pretty nervous about the surgery and about everything else!

I feel so much hope learning how much each one of you have lost, but still have fears.

I been on the liquid diet, but have had a horrible case of gas, bloating and diarrhea... the nurse said that it was probably some kind of lactose intolerance... go figure.

Tomorrow I'll drink something else to see if the gas goes away.

Surgery is on 10/23/09 at 7:30 am.

Please pray for me

Thanks you!

Liliana

Liliana - Welcome !!!

Prayers being said for a safe surgery and speedy recovery.

A gf at work today was telling me that I was doing good on keeping my weight off and I told her my struggles - she told me this "Dolly Parton would say see this body - well there's a fat chick inside trying to get out" I just had to laugh at that one - it use to be "a skinny chick inside a fat chicks body" now it's a "fat chick inside a skinny chicks body" the struggle is never over - I just loved that

We have an addiction and our bands are great tools to help us battle that addiction --

Check in when you can and let us know how you are doing - feel free to jump in anytime you want..

Laura K - How are you doing ??

You and I are one Janet!! Qvc, Coach, ok housekeeping, starting to like more outdoor stuff (think I always did but I let my weight keep me from enjoying it) and all the girly girl stuff. My closet is more organized now than it's been, unless you count in the past when I had al my too small stuff on one end of the closet and the few things that fit on the other. Now I love to go in there and know everything fits and have so many choices in what to wear. And I am learning to love shopping. We drew names in my family for Christmas while my folks were here. My mom got my name. She keeps asking what I want, I keep telling her the same thing, an Ann Taylor gift card! LOL Heck, I figure with the after Christmas sales I can get so much more for the same money and she doesn't have to figure out my tastes LOL.

Good luck to you Liliana!! Your life is going to change so much for the better as you embark on your new banded journey! It's the best thing I've ever done for myself.

I love the fat chick trying to get out analogy. I had heard teh skinny chick trying to get out when I was overweight, but never heard of the reverse. I gotta keep that fat chick locked up!

Lilana, good luck with your surgery and welcome to this site. You'll get lots of support when you check in here and ask anything you want -- we've all been though it and experienced it so ask away.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and prayers. Had to pick DGD up again a little after I posted last night. SD is having a friend take her to a different ER today for a "second opinion". SHe was violently ill again because she ate hamburger and fries yesterday afternoon and that kind of food difficult to digest. They told her a "soft low fat diet" and that was her choice! Picked up GD who seemed a little shell shocked to say the least --how difficult it must be for a not yet 3 year old to understand seeing her mother vomiting and having constant abdominal pain.

I'm pretty much a girlie girl too -- I made and sold crafts (it was my Christmas money when I was a single mom) for over 20 years. I miss that at times. I am a cleaner although I don't always have time to do it myself - I just fired my last cleaning peopple cause they just weren't doing a good enough job for the money -- just barely skimming the surface. The house was looking dirty the next day or so. So will do it myself until I decide to hire the next people. I'm also a clothes hog -- no matter what my size I have my closets stuffed with clothes -- love clothes -- though when fat I only could buy from catalogs, so have to get back to "shopping". When I lived in Vegas and Long Beach (when I was thin back then), I loved to shop at Ross and Marshalls -- got some great bargains. BUt I truly do not like shopping -- I will go shopping when I need something but I go and get out fast. LOL. I do love to spend money though. Janet, I'm with you, I've only not worked 2 years since I was 16 -- once was right after my son was born and we moved to Fairbanks and I took some time off to get settled and the other was when I married my DH and his son was only 4 so I stayed home to take care of him until he started kindergarten (plus he also needed some one on one attention from a female at that point - he'd been through a lot). Although I have plenty to keep me busy, I prefer working -- like Apples, I miss getting up and out and the people. If I don't have that I have a hard time just getting motivated to get out of my nightgown. Well, gotta run. Laura, hope you're doing okay this morning, keeping you in my thoughts - hugs to you as always. Love you all, have a great Wednesday everyone! Linda

Here we are...back to the shopping topic again. OK...I'll jump in. I LOVE shopping. But, as I've said b/4, the bargain shopping really gives me a thrill. Not to say that I haven't spent too much on one item a time or two but when I do that, it's an item I know I will wear a very long time or it's a color and a cut that is just "Me". Last year once and this year twice I was just plain naughty but it felt so nice. When I got to my goal weight I went and bought a red boiled wool Geiger knee length coat, $700 (shocker). Then the lady from the shop called me and said they got in a Geiger hooded black zip boiled wool that "is just so you". I fell for it and ANOTHER $650 later that coat was mine too. Another call from the lady. Light aqua spring jacket/blazer type...yep, it jumped in my truck when I went to look at it. The way I see it...I don't get paid for what I do (yes I do but I just don't "see" the paycheck) and that was my pay for a really, really, really long time and I know I will wear those coats until they are completely worn out. I had a Geiger coats, I think about 25 yrs ago, and wore it out. My confession....I did it and I'm taking responsibility (lol).

I have hit consignment shops and are in awe of the items that still have tags on them. Just lately I have found 3 pair of Ann Taylor capris in 3 diff colors in my size with the tags on and paid $6.50/pair. I love this kind of shopping and can spend hours just looking through the racks.

Another windy, really cold and rainy day here. Soybean hauling day (men are trucking dry Beans to elevator in town). I will be making them homemade alfredo pizza today and just pulling some baked goods out of the freezer. That's a lazy woman's lunch but have their supper to prepare and also knee deep in doing the books today.

Hope you all have a good one! A big "Good Morning" to EVERYONE!

Oh Eva...thanks for the reminder. I had Julie on my calander but have not taken the time to looke at it yet.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR JULIE

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

Sounds like an intersting job, Eva. The company that digs the cable in around here is Ripleys. We got cable to our house way out here in the country about a year ago. Nice to switch from Dish TV to a cable company. Was $79 for dish and $29.99 for our cable coverage. Huge difference. Maybe that's how I can justify those three coats???????????????

Morning shoppers!!!!!! I'm a terrible shopper..... I have always hated it.... Mostly because the stores never carried my big sizes years back and I either made or sent for clothes from a catalogue.... I wouldn't know a name brand if it bit me..... Never ordered from QVC but have ordered off a TV commercial..... Anyway, you all enjoy your shopping...

Janet, sorry about the changes... Hope your adjustment goes smoothly and I'm glad you think you can still do FL.. Great, Sorry your trip may be falling through, but it would be nice to have you join us there, too....

Linda, hope all the medical isssues for your family clear up soon... Yes, I miss my little one, but she is coming today at noon.....

Liliana, welcome and good luck..... everything is going to be fine... just wait and see...

Eva, thanks for telling us what you do... I was a single mom for many years and had to work..... I was an accountant... After marrying DH we decided I didn't have to work anymore and it was great with me.. I have had a couple businesses since then and that is definitley work!!!! Sold them.... I still do take care of our rental business and I also do bookkeeping and bill paying for a mother and brother and all of ours.... I have like 8 checkbooks to handle... Keeps me happy without taking all my time... NO PAYCHECKS involved, though!!!! Benefits are questionable.....

If, I was hoping you would have a little breather at your days away, but you sound as though you are dreading it... I will wish you a calm weekend.... Take the walks and just breath in some calm... enjoy what you can and leave the rest.....

Apples, its cold and rainy here again too. DH didn't get to work yesterday or today... I don't mind but he goes a bit crazy.... Too much time on his hands... They still have 1500 acres of seeds to get in...

Laura, I'm hoping you are doing okay.. I think of you very often as it is a bit of deja vue for me.... Stay strong... we're here backing you up in spirit......

Well, DH just came in to say I should go to lunch with friends for my birthday and he would keep Mimi, so guess I will.... One just called and we made plans for 11:30...... I need to get moving then I guess... My one brother just called me, too... Birthdays aren't a big deal to me, but am glad to keep having them.. I've been too close to not this past year so I'm happy to get older... Thanks for all the birthday wishes... I'm thankful for all you good friends.. Take care and I'll talk to you guys later..... Julie

Thank you guys! your words are very comforting. I haven't slept well for several days now... and feel so tired and unfocused. Not sure why I feel so scared, man! I've had worse things happen to me than surgery, but still.

I will miss my diet dr. pepper soo much, but heck, just by not drinking that much I've lost 5 lbs already! haha!

I am a family counselor and every day I tell my clients: " if it's not working, change it!" well, now it's time for me to follow my own advice... it's hard, now I understand my alcoholic and drug addicted clients. I love food so much but if this keeps going the way it is, I'll eventually die, and heck if I want to leave the fun! NO WAY!

This will be good for my daughters too... they have horrible food habits, mostly my fault, now we all will have to learn a new way of relating to food, and it's not going to be easy but I think will be worth it in the end.

1 more day to go... I wil be today in the office until 730 pm... need the distraction.

Talk to you soon!

I appreciate your support.

Good luck, Liliana, and try not to be nervous. (Yeah, right!)...Make sure to check in with us when you feel up to it. We will be waiting to hear how you are doing. If you have any questions, there's always someone with an answer or their own personnal experience to share.

I remember that from the time I was certain I was going to have this surgery, what went through my mind was: "I'm going to wake up from this surgery and there will be no turning back"...on to a healthy life is what I really wanted and got it.

Wishing you all the best!:crying:

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
