Janet I am just pasting what I wrote a few days ago was wondering if you know odf any places in PS.

Welcome back Janet......sounds like you had a nice visit with your Aunt. I am glad that you made it back safe and sound. I had a very busy weekend as my DH surprised me and we spent the weekend in Palm Springs at the Spa Resort. Celebrated Valentines Day and my birthday which is on the 18th. Well we went to the buffett at the Spa Casino on Valentines day and I ate more than I usually do. But I did make good choices....shrimp and crab.....I did have one spoonon bread pudding my favorite dessert. I also had a glass of champagne. I am back at home and back on track today. We tried to go dancing.....but boy the music was horrible ..... we felt old. Janet do you know of any places out there that plays 60-70-80 music. We love going to Palm Springs but we would love to find a place that is more our age group to listen to some music. Your picture is beautiful......you look amazing. You are a true inspiration to me.

Have a great week.

It is 2 AM and I can not sleep. I will be banded in 6 hours. I am not nervous, per se. I just want to get this over to get on with the rest of my life.

I have been on liquid for 2 weeks. In the last 5 days my weight has stabilized and have only lost 0.4 lbs in the last 5 days. This really drives the point that I have to exercise. Since I am taking in less than 1000 cals a day, I will have to do something to kick start the weight loss again.

I will post agian when I get home from the hospital on Thursday. I am keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well.

Ich, my thoughts and prayers go with you. Gosh, we are gutsy pple. High five for us that go forward to take control of our lives. It is a continue work in progress.

Janet, so many Protein bars are on the recall list. I looked this am and found my brand name but luckily not my carmel nut blast flavor, Balance Bar. Kashi is on the list also. Google FDA recall. Holly

Gino - since you are a vegetarian - then you are going to have to look for more ways to get the Protein in thru Beans and I guess protein supplements (I think there may be a thread on the main forum page for vegetarians)- since I am a carnivore :0) I don't know what other items have good protein values.

I use WW or saralee lite bread 45 c per slice..

Rose - I haven't been dancing in ages - mostly due to the reasons you just stated "age appropreate places" I like hip hop & RB - but hate going to clubs where there is nothing but 20 yr old - The Esmaralda in Indian Wells has a club - went there for my 50th - a little older crowd and I think in Palm Desert McCormicks is another older crowd place.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY !!!!! Hope you have a great day and glad your DH surpised you...

Ichthy - Prayers for a safe surgery and speedy recovery. Don't worry about the weight loss right now - I don't think you are getting enough calories - you are a guy so lucky you you get to eat more than us girls:tongue:

Holly - I don't really do Protein Bars now a days and the ones I have are from months ago - Pure Protein choc and they have been in my fridge for months - so I am not afaird of the Peanut Butter issues - I rather eat real food instead of pt bars - but in the beginng I did supplemnt my pt with some clear liquid pt drinks I got from my doctors office -

Well, I am home from the hospital. Not much pain, more soreness than anything else. Feels like I had a weeks worth of heavy stomache workouts.

The nurse told me not to get on a scail for a few days becuase of all the fluids they give you via IV. I did anyway....14 lbs up!!!! I am not worried at all about it becuase I know pre-suregery they gave me two liters, and at least 5 liters post-op. Only 1 liter of output of urine....so the next few days I will be standing next to the toilet!!!

Well, just thought I would let you know how it is going with me.....

Thanks for everyones support in this group. Indiogirl has been a good friend..............

Ich, welcome home and congrats on getting your band. I was way up when I got home too. I was lucky and didn't have much pain either afterwards, just felt like I did 1000 sit ups.

Where is everyone? this is the quietest I've seen this thread! Busy out enjoying their new lifestyles??? Shopping??

doing good here, been busy myself. Still going strong on the workouts. I have noticed however, I am eating more than normal so am going to keep tabs on myself and see if it continues and why that is. I have an appt in 2 weeks and may see about a fill, unless it's head hunger that I have fooled myself into thinking is real hunger. So I need to really watch myself and ask myself if I am really hungry etc. as I've been at my sweet spot for a few months now so not so sure it is fill related this time.

Ich

Congrats on being Banded !!!

Glad all went well and you don't feel to bad.. I didn't like how I felt when I woke up from surgery and then when they took me for my fluor test - they almost made me throw up - then on Wed when Doc came to release me I had MAJOR gas pains in the shoulder - but after I got that last pain shot I was ok...

I love your motto !!!!

Take it easy - no lifting - no being macho ok ;) - give your body time to heal - you don't want your port to flip.

Glad to have you posting/chatting with us...

Hugs - Janet

Long - I looked /checked in this morning - but no one had posted and I had to to bookkeeping for my Bro's Estate and really didn't have anything to say - I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning didn't sleep very well last night either - I think it's about all that I have to do with my Bro's Estate (talk w/attonery yesterday) - It's very overwhelming - I have a hard enough time keeping up with my own bank account bills etc along with my job - with out adding his - and then being accountable to the courts - selling house doing an inventory of his personal stuff etc... OML just too much to think about !!!

You maybe eating more cuz you are working out more and your body needs the additional fuel - just keep tabs and watch the scale..

I say to myself - Oh I'm a size 4 that candy bar aint going to kill me (while at my aunts and it was 2 candy bars - reg ice cream - oreos - trail mix w/choc in it) Well 3 lbs later - ya it did hurt me - now I am working on getting back to 138 - 2 lbs to go...

I am back....hello everyone....yesterday was my birthday....and between Valentines Day and my birthday....I have been not making very good food choices. Yesterday for my birthday I had a piece of pie......I felt so guilty about it .... it actually depressed me. My DH kept asking me why I was down. Its so weird how bad you can feel for eating a piece of pie. Today was alot better day for me. The celebrating is over and I am going to get back into the routine. The scale has not moved this week. Lets see what tomorrow brings. Glad everyone is doing well. Janet good luck with the your Brothers Estate if you need anything let me know I have been in the legal field for over 25 years.

Hello to all......... Is there room for me here? I see a good portion of the posters here are in my age group... You seem to all know each other so well.... I'm 56 years old and hail from the North where the snow is deep and the weather still very cold. Exercise is not my strong suit, but I try.. Water aerobics is what I'm doing now. After not being able to even hardly walk 6 months ago, I'm feeling good about doing this.. It's enjoyable and good for me at the same time... I'm having some issues with food right now.. I've lost 78 pounds in about 6 months.. I know that's pretty good, but I'm feeling a bit shakey right now and worried I'll fail and go backwards.. My restriction isn't good. More in the mornings than later in the day.. My last fill was a tough one and am a bit "fill-shy" right now.. May get one next week.. I have 7 cc's in my 14 cc band... Don't know why I seem to have the blahs these last few days... something needs to give... maybe talking to all of you will help.. Hope you have time for me.. Looking forward to getting to know you.. Thanks........... Julie

The only reason everyone seems to know each other because of lapbandtalk. Everyone here is here to help eachother through this process becuase know one knows how it feels to go through this process (physically and mentally) except those who are or going through this process.

So, welcome to our little section or hell (or heaven) as the case may be. :-)

Welcome Julie

Congrats on 78 lbs in 6 months that's fantastic !!!! I don't concern myself with the # of cc in my band - don't see why anyone really cares as it's a very individual issue - what works for me isn't going to work for you - all you should care about is if you have restriction or not..

You say your restriction isn't good - I am glad you are seeing your doc - for me as little as .01 can make a difference - I know what you mean about being fill shy - I was too tight for one week and never want to be that way again. Talk to your doc and have him add just a tad.

As to being shakey - well, for me I haven't looked at this as a diet - but a lifestyle change - eating healthy & exercise but that being said - ya - when you allow for treats and then sorta push the limits sometimes it gets scary - oh no will I lose control again.....

Control our minds are really what we have to work on so much - yes our tool is a great help - but our issues with food really are mental more than physical.

When I got to goal - I just kept eating healthy and going to the gym - I didn't change a thing and I lost another 12 lbs and now maintaining that weight pretty easily. But that's cuz I didn't diet - I didn't lose the weight and go back to eating normal - cuz my normal got me fat in the first place.

Just take one meal at a time - eat healthy and keep us your exercise - and as you can already attest to - it does make you feel better about yourself.

As Ich say - we are all in the same boat - we all have the same problem (food) I have a saying no one knows about a fat person like another fat person does - As I have always said we are more alike than we are different when it comes down to it..

Hugs - Janet

Ich - Glad to see you on line - hope all is well - what's your post op diet like

i was banded yesterday and now im in so much pain i cant even get out of the bed to use the restroom. please help! what are somethings i can do yo feel better??

Kristen - What hurts - gas ??? if so use the gas x strips.

You need to get out of bed and walk - the more you just lie around the worse you are going to feel.. Are you getting your fluids in - didn't your doc give you some pain meds (liquid) - do you have some liquid Tylenol??

Good Morning Gang...

I am in a better mood today - but heck it's Friday and I love Fridays - no work for 2 days !!!!

Thanks for the offer Rose - it's just dealing with family and stuff has been said (mean/greed) and I just am pissed about it and can't seem to let go like I should - And again - I hate doing all this - it's just one more thing I have to do and for me I have always taken care of others and feel that it's now about me - and sorta resent always being the responsible one - gosh I wish I could be irresponsible sometimes like everyone else in my family is - I am the one left to pick up the pieces..

But it is what it is - so buck up Janet and deal with it :tt2:

Ok just my morning ck in - Will CBL:tongue:

Janet, I can relate. Both of my in-laws passed within two months of each other, and I did the caregiving while my DH handled the finances and their wills. Needless to say, his bro did not speak to us for about a year. The siblings didn't want the responsibilities of their parents, but wanted the spoils ASAP after they were gone. So sad. Grief takes on so many emotions. Hang in there! You are doing the right thing. Take your time and take care of yourself. LOVE and HUGS are going your way from your LBT peeps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
