To answer Janet’s question about why I do not post – I guess I feel a little like an imposter. I started last September with my initial consult for Lapland. Because of insurance requirements I went through a 3 month medically supervised diet. I finished my 3 month diet and went through all of the pre-admission testing and was scheduled for surgery the 1st week of February. To make a long story short, I cancelled the surgery. In the 5 months from the initial consult to pre-admission testing I had lost 40 pounds just by following the medically supervised diet. I became a Lapland failure due to my success at following what I learned from the supervised diet and what I learned here on Lapbandtalk.

That is why I still lurk. I am down 50 pounds in 1 year (70 from my highest) and I feel like I need to come here and read to stay in touch with weight loss struggles. Yes, I still struggle.

I hired a personal trainer in April and have learned to embrace exercise. I have gone from only being able to run for 1 minute to running a 5K. I have finally been successful with loosing weight and maintaining for the first time in my life. I owe much to the LAP-BAND® process and to everyone here on Lap Band Talk but I somehow feel like I don’t really belong. Cheri’s heartbreak touched me and caused me to post as I live in the Chicago area too and felt her pain.

Thanks for listening; I owe all of you a large debt. Thank you for being here, posting and making your day to day struggles (and successes) available for everyone to follow.

You definitely belong here. We need you here to share your success. Please post and join us.

Evening ladies...it's taking a while to finish all the posts.

Cheri, condolences on the loss of that little boy. How sad for you and all the people that knew him. I wish you all peace in the aftermath.

My mind has just gone blank............duh...................

I've been running around like crazy the last couple of nights. Our friend is moving to Spokane so we spent the last 2 nights with her and helping her with some stuff. Work is very busy and I spent this afternoon outside and it was HOT, so I'm a little burned out tonight. Didn't get my walk in either so now I'm thinking I need to get up earlier than normal and try and walk. It's going to be hot all week.

Vegas, so you early morning arrivers are going to meet and wait for rides? It's about 300 miles from Phoenix or 400 miles from Tucson. I'm debating whether I should get a room for Thursday night, then I can be there to pick you up when you get in. Votes?

Phyl, yes, we live in a cul-du-sac and you will be able to turn the RV with the car attached around. No problem.

Melissa, good luck on the job.

Jodi, really like your thoughts about getting issues worked out in this life, etc. Limo huh? Nice!!

Laurak, congrats on the no cigarettes. That's an accomplishment.

Laura, some days are like that. You will get your routine down and everything will fall in place. Darn car trouble. DH's broke down last week...fuel pump issue. Sorry about your Dad, hope he starts feeling better.

Janet, it's interesting that Andrew is talking to you more now. He loves you and can't take you for granted now.

Linda, glad your SD is getting better. I really hope she gets her stuff together and starts taking care of herself and her daughter. That little girl is a gift not to be thrown away lightly by not taking care of herself.

Apples, glad you are back again. Harvest is almost here again and then you will be very busy, not like you aren't now.

Charlene, you going to post more baby pictures?

Joyce, looking forward to meeting you. It certainly is getting close.

Great, the bible study sounded interesting. Glad to hear about the mix of people. That would sure give you different perspectives. Sorry about the cancel on the trip. Next time.

Julie, hope you can work through the PT. I think my Dad's shoulder problem was something similar and he did feel better after a workout. Best wishes for you.

Sandy, good job and lapband or no, you are a success.

Okay, I'm going to wind down and try and sleep. Have a good night everyone.

eva

Eva....I guess I never even thought that anyone would pick us up. It's up to the others....so easy in Vegas to just take a shuttle or a cab from the airport. I'll let the others decide. So nice of you to offer though.

Not sure about the start of harvest, Eva. We got about another 3" of rain again today. It seems to be continuous. My DH never worries or frets (he has me to do that). He says about the crops "We always get it in and we always get it out"

I just assumed we were all taking a cab or something together too. But whatever works best or anyone wants to do. Linda mentioned having her DS drop her off at the airport to meet up with us as well.

Speaking of Vegas.....there was mention at one point about seeing a show on the Beatles or something. Are we still doing that? What night? And how much is it??

I know of the link, but was just wondering what if anything was decided and what to plan for. But guess I really don't need to plan, I can just wing it and go with the flow when we get there. I did just discover though, that there's no Loft outlet store in Vegas. DRATS! LOL But several regular stores. LOL

Mornin' Girls...already up and packed and waiting on DH to get up. My men are going to a farm show in Fargo and I am heading for the lake as early as I can. Driving back for wake tonight and funeral tomorrow and have to drive back Sat. for some work I am doing on a benefit. Can you tell I am eeking out every second of lake time? Next weekend we are closing it down. Then you will hear the whining begin!

Not sure when I will check in again....Tues or Wed maybe. Wishing you all a great weekend. Two weeks and we shall meet again....and meet for the first time.... So looking forward to it.

Sending the love.....

10:30-11pm is a normal bedtime for us. Lots of nights I'm in bed with a book at 8:30 but read for a couple of hours. We would be up with the chickens if we had any. And, or dog is getting lazier by the minute and does not wake us up so we have to rely on hot flashes or the alarm to get us up.

Eva, whatever works for you......this is a no stress trip. Shows? Whatever......well, I sat on front row of Blue Man Group. Boy, was that a mistake. I ended up with paper over my head by the time it was over. Just let me know.

Eva, pics will come when I can take some off of my DD's FB. She has taken tons of pics, but she is so busy she hasn't been on FB much.

Apples, enjoy the lake this week. We will be glad to get you back full time.

I just finished walking. Now, I am getting ready to go swim with a friend. Later peeps!

Morning Gang...

Yesterday was my 2 x at gym - late nite -

Sandy - Congrats on your loss and yes you have the same addiction as the rest of us - food - our bands helps us - but I really think it's all about the light bulb going off in our heads in the understanding that we have to exercise & eat healthy- which has happen to you - My trainer ask this question all the time - don't you think you could have done it w/o the band - ya - i would have lost some - don't know if I would be where I am now - I think knowing I had major surgery was my wake up call - and my band does stop me from over eating at times. I guess it's my constance reminder to be healthy.

You are welcome here even if you don't have a band :0)

Apples - I must have scanned too fast - another wake funeral - omg... Hugs - Enjoy the lake..

As to Vegas - it's about 4 - 5 hr drive for me - I was planing on picking up Phyl by 8 and hopefully be in Vegas around 12 - 1 - and I have room for 3.. oh just thought luggage may be an issue - as I will have Phyl scooter - I don't think we can ck it til 3.. Guess maybe we should call Desert Rose and see if we can ck in early.. and get rooms that are close to each other

As to going to a show - well we really only have 2 nites together - and figured we would want to visit as much as we can.. And show tickets are expensive $100 a piece to see a good one..

there are what 11 of us or is it 10 ;0) to early for me to count as I need to head to the shower

Who want's to go to a show??? Did Jodi say she could get us discount tickets???

Well I gotta get moving - cbl

Janet, I want to visit.......maybe go out to eat, and waste a few bucks on the slots(No slots in Texas). Yep, tickets are around 100 or more for good seats. We had tickets for LOVE in November, but canceled. They were over 100 each.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
