Arlene, there's probably lots of young 'uns at this gym too, but, like Janet says, who cares?? I am doing this for me, not to get googled at by hard bodies. Plus, you know what? They are all so busy looking at themselves in the mirrors they really hardly notice anyone else. Go where you are comfortable but don't let some young kids scare you off! You are as good or better than them anyway.

Eva, same thing happens to me, when I got time to post a lot and spend here no one else is here. LOL

Janet, I bet your arms are just fine. For me it's my legs, I guess we all have that body part that bugs us still. After I get back into shape somewhat I will have to see if they have boot camp classes at this 24 hour as well. I plan to try and go at the same time each day and hopefully get to meet some regulars but if not oh well. DH said after he gets the yard and stuff in after summer he 'might' join me. I highly doubt it though. He'd rather do physical labor around the house or yard as his exercise. Or take a dog for a job.

Hello~

I am home!!! Thanks for the safe travels... I think?! Were y'all talking to me or LauraK. (I have been confused lately when I check posts from phone- can't tell which Laura you are talking to.):smilielol5:

Vegas,,, did someone say Vegas?! Oct 16-20 I will be in San Diego with DH. But Oct 1 I might be able to do. Would be tricky- won't know until DH's schedule out. If he's working then couldn't come unless I bring Nelson. AND...... Las Vegas is not kid friendly in my opinion. Actually I haven't been to LV since I traveled there to see a famous infertility specialist. I had two of my IVFs there. (so I sorta have bad memories). Maybe it would be good to substitute them for great memories with great friends! If my sister still isn't working maybe she could come stay with him... or I could bring her. Hmmmm.. I will work on it.

It has been pretty quiet! I am usually so overwhelmed with posts to catch up on and you guys made it EASY! I've been unpacking/grocery shopping/Father's Day shopping for DH. Also took the boy out the whole day (playdate movie- Toy Story 3/Chuckie Cheese) to give DH some alone time. (after a week in NC with my nutty family he needed some down time!) Not sure what kind of time I need!

This time home I did REALLY good with food. Every a.m. I did my Protein Shake, did VERY little for lunch and then ate a normal dinner. I did a lot of the cooking, so I had control of fat content. I didn't gain/didn't lose. I am content with the not gaining lately. It's not good. But it is what it is. I need to get back on the losing wagon. I feel like a broken record- been saying that for months. Sigh.

Gonna do some shout outs by memory:

Janet~ WTG on the gym and glad you had fun with the family!

Apples~ Hope you are doing well. I guess you are lake bound and surviving some more dental stuff.

Julie~ Last I read you were doing a little better and waiting on 2nd opinion and busy with DD wedding. Oh yeah and fixing a lot of meals for reunion and such. Hope things are looking up for you.

Phyl~ loved the pics of your grandpup! Hugs on uncle. How are you feeling? did they re-scan the band? I think you wrote you had more restriction now. Hope that is all well.

Lori~ Congrats on gym membership!!! Glad your house is coming along.

Eva~ Hope your party goes well. Glad you had a nice visit with sis. Camping? Empty house? Will there not be electricity and running Water? Or is sleeping on airbed considered camping these days..LOL.

Joyce~ congraaaaats on onderland!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arlene~sounds like you did good on shakes and are now introducing carbs. wtg!

Linda~ thanks for all the thoughts : ) Hope you had a good girls' weekend!!!

Jessica~ Hope you are getting out of your in between semester funk. Sorry to hear about BM probs with your son. 99% of time time this has a psych component. Perhaps it is stress from leaving your MIL's house? Does he get to see them? Is he missing the routine of school? what is he doing this summer, any camps? Create a positive and peaceful environment and support the heck out of him. The harder you push the issue- the worse it usually gets. Even those audible sighs and rolling the eyes is enough to let him know you are disappointed. I know it is tough- hang in there. Try LOTS of positive reinforcement. I bribed the crap out of Nelson (pun intended!). He got a 4 wheeler (battery operated) the first time he pooped on the potty!.

Time to get dinner ready! I will CBL............. peasout! Laura

Janet, yeah, you are right about not worrying what others think......it's just they don't have what I need.....water aerobics. My back doctor and Dr. Davis told me to get into Water aerobics. I think I will in the fall. I will be taking my GD to Mommy's Day out and it is right across the street from LA Fitness.

I kinda went nuts on eating "Food" today. Nothing bad, but I guess I just felt guilt free eating.

breakfast- eggbeaters

snack-half a toasted bagel

lunch-pr shake w/fruit

snack- baked chicken leg

dinner- 3oz grilled steak( a no no) Father's day at the DD's w/salad and a half ear of grilled corn

973 calories

not bad for a full day of eating

Not bad at all. But why is steak a no no??? I'd think the bagel would be a no no and the steak would be a yes yes. LOL Good job!

Phyl, I am here.....just busy sewing today.

Joyce, Congrats! on the onederland!

Janet, Congrats! on the exercise! Yes, because of your support I walk everyday. I walked 2 miles this morning, and will do my stationary bike this afternoon.

Great, I am so glad you are getting in touch with old friends. That is a good price for a membership. There are too many young people at our 24hr Fitness. My son goes there. They don't have a pool. If I join one it will be LA Fitness. They offer Water aerobics every morning.

You know my mouth has been so sore and raw while on the shakes....ketosis. I ate carbs last night and today. The soreness is almost gone. I am still getting my teeth cleaned next week and get xrays. I just hope it is all good.

Eva, where are you going this time? Have fun!

Ditto to everything Arlene said. Interesting on the mouth issues with ketosis. I'm also surprised by the no steak. Tell us more. Is it too hard on the stomach coming off of liquid?

I'm thinking it could cause major pbing as your pouch is probably shrunk to nothing.

So Laura, you are doing maintenance right now. Considering the stress you're under, that's probably a wise choice.

I'm doing really good with maintenance as far as my weight is concerned. As soon as I gain a lb. or 2 I go back to a couple of days of high Protein very low carbs and take it right off. I've also been walking a lot and doing some massive gardening. I've been trying to get all the major weeding, transplanting and planting done before the heat really hits. I really do have a lot of garden. We've had a lot of rain and its very lush. I'll have to get my husband to take some pictures as I'm moving into mid-summer flowers so I can post them. Lots of hollyhocks in bloom right now. Some butterfly delphinium. Gotta spray "deer fence" almost every night because the rain keeps washing it away. Otherwise they'll eat my hostas which are about to bloom, and some of my lilies seems to attract them before they bloom, as well as my phlox. They also like hollyhock buds.

The stuff stinks but it works.

Having my husband's kids for Father's day tomorrow. So far he has one gd. Gonna make quesadias (sp?). Went to a backyard party of an old friend today. Wonderful garden. Sort of a meditation, wandering around pathways looking for hidden treasures kind of garden.

I'm thinking about Oct 1-3. Are you guys planning on being there till Sunday afternoon or evening? I wouldn't be able to get there till late Friday night or early Saturday morning. I'd want to make the trip worth while with air fare and all.

Cheri

I often have steak, but must be very tender... I don't eat more than 4 oz, often not that much...so DH buys me filets. We get packages of them at costco and he divides them up in single portions for me and freezes them individually.

Yes... papaya or pineapple juice when you're "stuck". Once a month, if there is a Riteaid near you, they sell the "pharmasure" brand, 2 for the price of 1. The store near us usually only stocks 2 bottles a week, but will give me a rain check if I want more than that. Don't have a store very close when we're in CA, so I often stock up over the summer!

This is Bella... 18 mos old, 9 lb Shih Tzu mix. We are supposed to meet her tomorrow at 6pm and if we want to keep her and the "facilitator" agrees, we can take her home.

Phyl, she is adorable!!! I hope she is the perfect pup for you.

Cheri, steak is not on my diet. I think because it is harder to lose eating beef. He said beef is okay, but it has to be free of hormones and anitbiotics. And beef is more for maintenance. He gave me a 1300 calorie mediterranean diet since 1300c is my resting metabolic rate. That means I have to exercise and burn off 300-500 calories a day in order to lose. So far, I have lost a lb. I haven't eaten 1300 calories yet, but I am sure there will be days that I do.

Okay, gang, gotta get ready for church. They are giving a huge "man" grill away today......five burners! Also, all the men are wearing "man clothes" for church.....shorts and flip flops. lol Happy Father's Day! to everyone to has filled "Dad Shoes".

Good morning! Kindda missing Colorado today since it's Fathers' Day. The kids are going to my inlaws for a BBQ, DD did call DH this morning already. DS will probably forget. LOL But we will see them this week as we are meeting camping on Thurs. WOOHOO!!

Beef - I ate it a lot while losing, lots of grilled burgers (extra lean) and steak. I get the filets like Phyl at costco and freeze them in individual portions. DH has lots of deer and elk meat from all his hunting last fall so he grills himself that and then for me one of my filets. It will be fun to do now too as he got a nice new grill for Fathers day at Costco yesterday.

Vegas, I will probably look for a flight late morning to noon time or so. As soon as we are set, I am going to look at booking a cheap airfare and coming confirmed vs standby.

Hail - as you all know my car was totalled. Well we got the estimates from the insurance on the house now too. Over $10K in damages to roof, gutters, screens, etc. Now we have to co ordinate all those repairs from here with new owners in the house as the insurance will only work with us. Fun fun!

So happy to hear that beef is a possible option. Love filets and have been living on fish, fearing problems. Can't wait to try one.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
