Apples - Have fun with DS - I will see mine again this weekend :0)

Laura - How funny I was going to get after you next week about the exercise/gym issue :0) !!! Hugs on not being able to eat - our bands are so funny - one day tight as shit then next day wide open.

Jessica - Vegas at night is beautiful !!!! I love the lights..

Great - Did you buy anything ?? Glad your knee didn't cause you too much trouble - I would hate flying that way - but since it's free I guess it's worth it :0)

Hi everyone,

Congratulations to Joyce, welcome aboard the lapband train!! I bet you're glad to have that behind you. Happy to hear you are doing so well and not much pain -- just try to keep walking around if you do get any of the pain.

Laura, sorry to hear about your dinner out - that just sucks. I feel very lucky that I have never slimed and have really only PB'd once. I do chew papaya enzyme immediately upon getting a stuck feeling and don't eat or drink anything for at least 10 mins. -- I've also learned it helps to walk around when I have that pain going on. So far it's always passed without any sliming. Hope you are feeling better today. Hope you took the crab cake home (my favorite!).

Lori, glad you had a good time in Vegas. If any of you go to Vegas, you should go out to the new M Casino in Henderson (opened in March, 2009). They have a fabulous buffet -- it's really huge and includes wine, beer, homemade rootbeer and espresso/cappacinos, etc. It's not any more expensive than any other buffet - around $20 during the week. My favorite thing to eat there is salmon that they cook on a board - it's so delicious. They also had quite a few other band friendly items (lots of seafood, sushi, I think 6 or 8 different soups). It's just a neat place to visit off the strip. We get to go cause DS drives us there as it's quite a way from the strip. I love the blue man group show -- I was wondering if you'd do Cirque D'Soley (sp?) I'd love to see the new one with the Beatles music - I heard it's fabulous. I have to admit, it feels a bit strange to be recommending a buffet here on Lap Band Talk.

Janet, hope your nephew gets better -- you know, this illness might "move" him to do something about his health. That was part of how I made my decision to get the band, when I got seriously ill with a severe kidney infection and almost had to go on dialysis. It made me realize I really did want to continue to live and enjoy life.

Apples, have fun with your DS, I know exactly how nice it is to have a good visit with your DS. Mine is coming for a quick visit the end of next month and I can hardly wait!

Sparkle, how wonderful that yo are working with Make a Wish -- sounds like you did a great job and you should be very proud of yourself. I agree with Janet, enjoy this holiday before your band -- cause once you have the band, it will be different. Congrats on getting your surgery date -- that's coming up quick.

Julie, so sorry to hear about your pain. That just sucks. Hope you can get it resolved. Eva, you too, hope it's just fleeting and you get yours resolved quickly too.

Cheri, congrats on your job being secure for another year -- I forgot to comment on that before. Glad that is going well. And, no, at this time I have no plans to come to Chicago, but I do love Chicago and will be visiting there soon (I hope). We want to take our DGD on the train there -- maybe we can do a long weekend this fall. I'll definitely let you know if and when so we can get together if I get there. Likewise for anyone who wants to get together with me -- Joyce I'm only around 3 hours from KC maybe we could meet halfway some time in the near future.

Charlene hugs on the snow -- I watch the weather for work and noticed you were supposed to get snow -- hopefully it will fall and melt quickly -- stay safe and warm!!

Well, that's about all this old lady can remember to respond to. Have a great day everyone!! I'm planning to watch the women's ice skating that starts tonight - that poor Canadian skater whose mother just died is skating -- I am routing for her for the gold -- bless her heart -- I'm glad she's going to skate -- it's for sure what her mother would have wanted. How tragic for her and her family.

Hugs and love to all my bandsisters!! Linda

Joyce, welcome to BandLand! It will exciting as you tell us about YOUR journey.

I am down 20 (from Jan. 25). I know it will go slower now; I am okay with that. I want to be at goal (32 more lbs) by July.

I went to the orthopedist today--I've got tendonitis, arthritis and probably a tear in the rotator cuff. It is so much fun getting older!! NOT! I got a shot of cortisone and am scheduled for an MRI.

Insurance companies are so funny--My MRI, no prob. Julie is suffering and hers says no. My ins. co. said lapband was cosmetic (tell that to my blood pressure).

So--who's watching American Idol? (breaking the habit of snacking while watching TV is one of the hardest for me....)

Linda

Hopefully so about nephew !!! Nothing wrong w/buffet - I haven't done one since banding - If I went I would take baggies - so that I could have some left overs for my $20 worth - I don't mind paying $$$ for a meal - but at a resturant I get a doggie bag - where as at buffets they don't let you - So I would sneak :0) - Yes I am a bad girl :0) or stay in there long enough to get my $$$ worth..

Charlene - Snow - lol - hopefully it won't last long or give you tummy/pain issues..

Judy - I watch Idol - heck me and Linda are the t.v. addicts of the thread I think - we got tivo/dvr's going and Linda even has a vcr recording (that's 3 show in 1 hr time- I don't have one (vcr) so I can only record 2 shows but then if I want to watch another - I have to go in the bedroom to watch :0)

I have my popcorn during my t.v. time - one piece at a time..

What in the heck did you do to your shoulder????

Ya it's funny my knee hurt - got an mri - you aren't having a problem - but Julie can't seem to get crap from her insurance...

well back to work :0)

1day, I can only have coffee with milk in it to start my day, then I have a Protein Shake which I sip very slowly. By lunch I can have about 3 oz of tuna or chicken. By supper I can eat more but I have to stop for first bite syndrome and wait a while, then finish my food. I stop as soon as I feel that tightness start before it gets to pb.

also, if you're moving around a lot because of work that's a good thing--counts as exercise. So glad you're finding your work satisfying.

Since I moved to my new job I drink my coffee in the am but then forget to eat my Breakfast, because before I looked forward to my breaks and would eat breakfast around 10. They are not making me work through breaks or anything I just don't have a strict schedule like before so I am having trouble adjusting to being able to do what I want. I guess I will have to breaks on my calendar so I remember to eat and not starve.

I got home about 4 and the meds made me hyper. Have not rested and nurse from surgicenter said that happens sometimes.

Will probably be very tired tomorrow. No pain and very little gas - except when I take a deep breath.

Wonder what tomorrow will bring.

I'm so happy this day is over and I'm truly a banded girl.

Joyce in KC :)

I am so happy for you and glad you are home.

Melissa, I too am usually starving by dinner and was having difficulty with first bite syndrom cause I was so hungry. I made up a little chicken salad (canned chicken) and having a little snack around 4:30 or so (I eat lunch at 1:00 and work until 6:00 so dinner is usually late) -- I eat it with some of the multi grain Special K crackers -- it's about 150 calories total and good Protein. That seemed to do the trick for me - I just started doing this last week. I think it's a better snack than popcorn cause it has the protein.

I have tuna in my desk those travel tuna salads I need to do that Like i said early I think I have to set a calendar reminder to take breaks

Hi to everyone else hope everyone is feeling and doing well.

Hi girls,

I had my trip to Bismarck today to PT and Chiropractor.. The doc where I get PT is filing an appeal now to get the MRI... Now that they have documentation of my therapy there.. The therapists were instructed to document EVERYTHING.... And I wrote a personal letter of appeal telling my woeful tales of pain and sleepless night... Doc thought it might help so I was happy to write it... We'll see what happens now...

Melissa, setting your alarm to remind you to take a break is a good idea.. You need a little sustinance while working that hard... glad you like your new job..

Linda and Janet, I'm a tv girl, too.... I tape things if they are new unseen shows... and of course I have Young and the Restless set to record everyday so I don't miss it.. Usually watch it before I go to sleep and if my pills make me fall asleep while it is till on I still can watch it later..... But I'm not into reality shows... Don't do Idol or Survivor... I like crime dramas......NCIS, CSI, Bones, Good Wife.... that kind... or we watch lots of the 48 Hours type shows....

OK Judy, I'm jealous..... I want an MRI..... but I'm glad you get one so you can handle this before it gets out of hand.. Pain is no fun and I'm happy for you... Gotta be in good shape to find the DL!!!!!

Lori, glad you had a good time in Vegas.... I sure couldn't have done that walking...WTG..... The trip home sucks, but I guess you are used to it when you do like you do.....

Jessica, thanks for the nice words... I just get a bit down when my pain is bad... As for play groups.... not a lot of those around here....this is a small town... 1500 or so... Most of the kids her age are up at the daycare where my DD works.. So she has been there the last 2 days... DD said today Mimi was naughty to a smaller girl.... Mimi needs to go more often so she learns how to get along with others....

Arlene, you take care.... don't let that snow get the best of you..... stay warm....

Well, I'm off to my bath.... It helps relax me before bed and then I take my pills in hopes I can fall asleep without the pain getting so bad... Lots to do tomorrow so I need to sleep... I did have a nap after I got home today... Night now ladies... Sweet dreams... Julie

The snow is about 40 miles from here and moving on. We just have rain. I am doing fine on the pain thing except for a headache. My new thing is to take half of a muscle relaxer when the weather starts changing. That plus the new medicine keeps me almost pain free. I am so ready for Spring.

Joyce, I am so glad you are home.

Julie, I hope you get an MRI soon.

Lori, that is awesome on the walking around Vegas. I want to go see LOVE. Is it still there?

Melissa - You are too sweet !!! I rarely forget to eat - except when I am really involved in something - but at work I seem to be hungry - Good ideal to set your calendar - can you eat at your desk - that's what I do - and if I have food sitting on my desk - I will eat it :0)

Hello ladies, sorry I've been MIA too. I got caught up in an audio book....The Lightning Thief.....cute!

Janet, you would be proud of me today....they had an impromptu brunch for someone with a birthday today and the only thing I ate was some fresh fruit (which is on my plan) and I stuck to my lunch today.

Joyce, welcome back home...home your recovery goes smoothly. I was wired the first week after surgery but crashed the 2nd. The port will be really sensitive for a while....just a heads up on that.

Hi Jodi, glad you are busy and it's cool that you are involved with Make-a-Wish. Great organization.

Linda, glad the Beck book is helping you. I still haven't bought it because I haven't taken the time to look for it. Sort of planned to do that in Florida, but that didn't happen.

Julie, hope this new round of appeals helps. It probably is good for Mimi to go to the day care once in a while. I think those socialization skills are important for her future.

Apples, have fun with your DS.

Judy, sorry about the shoulder, at least you know what's going on. Arthritis, fun huh?

1day, it is hard to be unstructured after working with set break times. I've been unstructured for a very long time and sometimes I forget to eat, or I'm in the field and things take way longer than they should and then I get really hungry. It's not a good place to be. You'll get the hang of it soon. Glad you are liking the new job.

Laura, is DH still sick? So sorry. Yes, you will have a beautiful day for the party...we all say so. Don't drive yourself crazy getting ready for it either. Sorry about the PBing...no fun there...although I think the car driving out is pretty funny...but then again, I do have a sick sense of humor.

Charlene, glad you are getting your pain under control. One of my friends in Killeen sent me a picture of her car...looks like there is a foot of snow on it. I asked her if she moved to Colorado.

Great..welcome back from Vegas...sounds like a lot of walking. That's the one thing you can always to there, get lots of walking in.

Cheri, there's no way I want to do telephone solicitations for any reason...you are a good employee to support your employer in that manner. Good for you.

Okay, I didn't get up early enough to do my yoga this morning so I have to do it now. Hope you all have a great night!!

food was good today...now for exercise. Oh and I did my Walk away the pounds tape last night for exercise since it rained here again.

Later,

Eva

Hi gang. Read everybody. Phones again tonight. Gotta go hang. Hip hurt today. Neck hurts tonight. food pure crap today.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Julie, when you were in Florida you weren't getting any treatment and you did better. It seems like everytime you stop chiro and PT you start to heal. PT and chiro did not work for me. They aggravated the discs and inflamed them and made them worse. Now that you've shown the insurance co. that PT didn't work, hopefully, they'l give you the MRI. Until someone finally sees what the root of the problem is, I think I'd avoid PT and chiro like the plague. Every week you're getting worse.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Just saying.

Cheri

I just got back from a day in Vegas and I think I need a vacation already, my schedule is jam packed and I do have a vacation to get ready for! I leave for Isreal on Sunday. today was my Grandma day and I was gone til 4 then left at 5 for dinner and my nephew's HS tournament basketball game. Tomorrow is volunteer day at the hospital, Thurs. is Bible Study and a meeting with a financial person with my Grandma for her. It's a good thing I got laid off from my job, I have no time to work! LOL

Jewel, how 'bout a compromise, take the bike to Vegas! LOL

Julie, don't feel too guilty about not watching mimi, I k now how much you enjoy her, but you gotta take care of you first so then you can take care of others. I agree about maybe cutting back on the chiropractor and PT that seems to cause you more grief. I've never heard of having to get insurance approval for an MRI before, hope it comes through soon.

Arlene, not sure what 'Love' is as far as a show goes. So don't know if it's there or not.

Melissa, I have never forgotten to eat, wish I could! LOL Hope you get your band figured out, sounds like you've had lots of stress.

Laura, bummer on the PB episode at dinner. Glad you got better later.

Janet, that sucks about your Ipod, I hope it wasn't your family. I did do some shopping, Ann Taylor Loft of course. Got a shirt on clearance there for $4!!! That was it and poor DH carried my Loft shopping bag all day along the strip and even to the show.

Linda, we debated about a Cirque d Soleiel show, Blue Man and Donny & Marie. We'd already seen a Cirque show in the past and DH wasn't so sure about Donny & Marie so we wnt to Blue Man. Funny on my flight home I sat in front of Marie in first class. She was very friendly and nice and oh so tiny.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
