Wow Laura, congrats, you are doing so very very well. I just had to do a quick report --got my second fill and it was a breeze -- just one poke and no pain and all done! I got 2 ccs this time, so a total of 5 ccs in my 10 cc band. I am thrilled there were no problems since last time. Also, my son arrived last night for my b-day and gave me my present this morning -- he bought me a Wii and the Wii fit. OMG! My mouth just hit the floor -- I cried as well. He told me he's so proud of me and wanted to do soemthing that would help me! What a great son! He's just the best! Hope everyone has as great a day as I'm having. I'm off to the YMCA for my workout! Linda

Thanks Linda. As we all know, it is NOT easy and has been pure HE!! sometimes. I am just ready for some restriction!!! When was your surgery? Since you just got your 2nd fill.

The way you wrote about your son, just gave me goosebumps! That is so sweet. My sister had a similar sweet birthday. She is my older sis, I am 42 and she is 48, and is having gastric bypass in 6-8 weeks. Her 26 year old daughter bought her a digital food scale and bypass cookbook for her birthday last month. She is one of those kids who usually forgets a birthday or picks up something at the drugstore last minute. So for her to actually order something online that took some thought... it was a BIG deal. Everyone assumed my sister was crying because she got a food scale for her birthday! But she was crying b/c her daughter actually loved her and supported her decision and THOUGHT about her gift. Those are sweet moments. My 5 year old son told me my v-neck shirt that I work out in looks like a dress yesterday! For a kid, that was a HUGE compliment!:)

Glad to hear everyone is doing okay I am so looking forward to getting to onederland. 2 more lbs.

Well Dh finally decided and he came home with my dream car tonight.....a s500 mercedes benz......he completely surprised me and told me that I deserved 10 of them. He is an amazing man I was truly blessed when I met him 5 years ago. I was previously married for 17 years in a bad marriage. I truly feel blessed for finding the love of my life so late in life.

1day keep us posted on how your blood work comes out.

What I ate today:

B- Special K 1 cup 1/2 cup skim milk

L - Filet of Soul fish and carrots

D - bbq chicken breast, mixed veggies,1/2 baked potatoe

s - sugar free Jello on top of banana (yummy)

Rose OMG what a great gift - you are one lucky girl !!! Does he have a brother !!!

Great on your eating !!!

I am having lapband surgery May 4th and I am having some negative thoughts and was wondering if this is normal. I am trying to talk myself out of it but I want it so badly and have been in the process since July 08. I keep saying to myself that its not permanent and I know I'll have to have it removed and I keep thinking that I can't change my eating habits. I don't want to think these thoughts. Is this normal when you getting close to surgery day? :)

Thanks for starting this thread because we need some experienced ppl to help us through this.

Naynay (that's what my baby GD calls her big sis)

Yes it's normal - in the back of our minds we really do think this is the easy way out even though we Know it's not.

Ya you can change your eating habits - it may take a bit to get it right and every now and then again you will slip - but the key is to pull up the bootstraps and move forward.

#1 why are you getting banded ??

I did it to extend the years I have left on this earth - I want to be here for my grandkids - I wanted the quality of my life to improve.

I was on mushies going to prepare something totally unhealthy - but it was a mushie - I looked at the crap in the frying pan and said "Janet - did you just have major frickin surgery to continue to eat like this" Answer was NO - threw the crap away and made something healthy - My Ah Ha Moment...

Janet, I guess I need some tough love. I have gone 100 calorie snack crazy the last two days. I gained a lb back. I haven't journaled either. So, straighten me up! You know when I have a good weight loss then I believe the lie that I can go back to eating carbs again. No one sabotages me, but me. Okay, I am done venting this morning. By the way, I stink at pathwords!..........gonna try again this evening.

OK GF - Here's your kick in the butt !!!

#1 Don't buy the 100 c snack packs - especially ones that you really enjoy !!!! I don't buy them especially the cookies/sweets/candy ones - cuz I will keep going back for more and more and cuz they really are so tiny.

If you want to do the 100 cal snack packs do the popcorn - you get alot and if you eat one piece at a time - you will be feeding that hand to mouth habit and your head hunger at the same time with out over doing it...

Ya gotta get off the sugar - with easter - my jewelry party I have had to much exposure to sugar - and sugar is not our friend - it's our addiction and once we start we have a hard time giving it up.

I still have carb/starches every night and I only count the white stuff as carbs/starches (I don't count the carbs in veggies or fruits - to me carb = sugar rice Pasta tatoes bread etc) I have to have them - so I have a little with dinner everynight which I can control - it's the sugar that I can't control.

So depending on what your drug of choice is - just stay away from it if you can't control it..

Throw the crap away - I know you say oh but that's throwing $$$ away - well - which is more important to you the $$ or your health !!!! I throw crap away all the time - I threw away $30 worth of food after my party - but heck better in thee than in me - cuz if I kept it around I would have eaten it and it was your normal fattening crap - cuz I was to lazy to figure out anything else to make - well shrimp cocktail wasn't fattening - but the chips & dip and Cookies..

Charlene - Yes I understand that mentality about eating just a little to much of this or that - I've been there lately - but this week I have been excellent - I feel to damn good to go back and we both KNOW that if we go back there what's going to happened - so just don't start and when you do slip do what you just did admit to it - then focus and get back in the mode of eating healthy

You can do this - that's why we are here (all of us) to get the support we need - We understand the slips - the only thing diff now adays is we are not letting those slips turn into saying "f" it - I give up.. Now we think about what we are doing (were I don't think we did before we just ate whatever we wanted when ever we wanted) so we have made so much progress in just realizing what we are doing now adays..

Hugs - Start journaling here to - I know for some that keeps them on task...

You can do this - You have done this - Just get your focus back - throw the crap away (or if you can't give it away)

How's your knees (can't remember what part bothers you knees or back) go for a 30 minute walk...

That's your fine.:P

oh ya i stunk at pathwords in the beginning my score were low - but keep playing (you can play by yourself) keep doing it and you will get the hang of it - I look for the big words but will concentrate on the 3 letter ones too cuz those you can find fast and do alot of them i concentrate on one section at a time ... just keep at it your scores will improve :0)

WOW WOW WOW!

Hi everyone~

Congrats on the onederlanders! I AM DREAMING OF THAT DAY! Glad to hear you guys that weren't feeling good are feeling better. Reassuring to hear others as frustrated as I am. Welcome to some new faces. I haven't been online much lately. Too busy finally putting myself on the list! And then being a mom and a wife.... I swear, eating healthy (shopping for everything, cooking healthy, etc...) and exercising is a FULL TIME job! I sometimes find myself slumping back into my old habit of being too tired too exercise, etc... and so I hired a really MEAN trainer at the YMCA! (She's not really mean... just makes me do things that my body doesn't like doing.. like lunges and squats). She is weighing me weekly, just to have one more check and balance in place. The first week we scheduled 3 x and this week, 2x. I might stick to that. The other days I can do something. This week again was really frustrating to me. Although I ate no more than 900 calories a day and exercised 5 times in 7 days ( I am talking SERIOUS exercise... 70 min. workouts with an average heartrate of 135 and max of 165, elliptical for 30 min and circuit training in between, lunges, squats, ect) ... I only lost one pound! It just makes me so mad that the weight isn't MELTING off like on the Biggest Loser! There have been some dangerous stuff in the house that my 5 year old begged me for at the grocery store the other day. (note to self... do not bring Nelson shopping again). I have yogurt covered pretzels (190 cal for 7 tiny pretzels!) and Entemann's chocolate Covered donuts (300 whopping cal/each). I did have 3 pretzels... then looked at the calories and closed the box. (I did include these in my daily count and entered them on the realizeband web site and everything!) (these are sold in the PRODUCE section!!!) IT should be outlawed. I sometimes have Mom guilt though. My son is adopted and does NOT have our genetics and is tall and thin and a VERY picky eater. He will skip Breakfast and lunch altogether if I don't insist on him eating something before school. I don't want to make him a member of the clean plate club like I was as a kid... but then he has to eat. And I prefer he eat his lean meat and veggies and THEN if he wants a treat he can have one. I have started just letting him not eat when he is obviously not hungry (especially on weekends). I think that is one of my biggest problems is that I never knew when I was truly hungry because we always ate on a schedule and because there were starving children in Africa! Yet, the nurse in me wants him to have enough nutrition for his brain to grow, etc. So many people say, he will eat when he is hungry. The thing is, he rarely wants to eat and then he wants goldfish only! I am sure the flip side to the coin would break my heart to have a chubby kid who I couldn't get to stop eating (like my mom had with me). I will tell you guys this... at night... when I get hungry and find myself in the pantry, the first thing I do is feed the cat a treat or two! Then go back to doing whatever I was doing. LOL. He is getting bigger, but I stopped snacking. ; )

Fill #3 is next Thursday! I wonder how much he will put in. I still don't feel any restriction really. However, twice while I was eating fast and didn't chew, I got the "iron fist" feeling. I stopped.. took some deep breaths and it passed after a minute or so. I have not had any of the saliva pouring or hiccups or anything like that. Each of those times I had taken a big bite and didn't chew enough. I know this sounds nuts, but I almost don't want to tell my dr (even though I will) for fear it will make him put less of a fill in! I of course don't want TOO MUCH! But I am tired of going in for a fill and not having ENOUGH!

Hope everyone is hanging in there!

peasout~ Laura

Laura

This is why when I am shopping now adays - I read the labels in the store - I look at the calories and decide if its going in my basket or not.

How old is your son?? When my ds was growing up he wasn't a bf person and this was when they 1st came out with kids should eat - so we would stop at circle k and he would get a small ok and beef stick - that was his bf when he was 4 - 5

I have my GS and he can eat all the crap he wants and is still skinny - He too said oh lala I cried one day cuz we never have sweets in the house anymore.. He doesn't eat them daily but every few months he wants some - so now a days he gets them and after he has had 2-3 piece - it goes in the trash and if he want the rest it goes in his room..

On the fill issue - my doc does blind fills so it's up to what kind of restriction you say you have as you are drinking the Water - and after a few times it's hard to feel it - only when the Water doesn't go down at all - that's easy to identify but the in out in out gets confusing..

Fills can be difficult - hope this next one is the one for you.

Well gang started this 2 hours a go - the phone rings or my boss comes in and wants me to work  so I better get to it

CBL:wink:

Thanks Janet! I needed my guru to straighten my a$$ up! You are right! I need to do a pantry cleaning. I keep too many 100 cal Snacks for the grandkids and I am the one who eats them. I need to go back to the early banding days. I have been walking 30 minutes a day. It is all the dr allows until I go through therapy and strengthen my core muscles. Again GF, thanks.........I needed that!

Evening Girls! Welcome newbies. Keep on truckin' if any of you are struggling. How did that kick in the butt feel, Charlene? Janet's sooooooooooo good at it, isn't she? Thank God for Janet!

Spent the day in the truck going from one side of the state to the other. Was running for tractor parts. And, yes, Janet I was up early and had dinner on timed bake in the oven!

I should have been an over-the-road trucker. It's the job I enjoy the most. Singin' to the radio, sippin' coffee and lovin' the countryside.

Gotta go. Guys just pulled into the yard for a LATE (too late) supper.

Sleep tight everyone and wishing you all a successful day of eating and exercising tomorrow. Hugs to all my cyber friends. Love ya!

I love driving long distants - I don't mine the drive to see DS and enjoy driving by myself - on the Easter trip the radio (I have sirrus) was playing some great jams from back in the day - I was car dancing and singing away - GS was asleep ..

So sorry you have been having troubles, Charlene. Best to get rid of temptations. It's tough when things like that just pull you right in.

You can get back on track. We've all been there and it's so nice to be able to come here to have a size 6 1/2 inserted!:rolleyes2:

Yes this is normal I did the same right up until the wheeled me in for my surgery. And just and FYI when you are on the liquids at first you do second guess yourself like why you did it but trust me this is what you wanted to do since 7/08 and this is just the negative talk speaking. You can do it just remember why you wanted to do this in the first place. Make a list and keep it with you. Stay strong.

I do all the driving...DH sleeps or gazes at the farm land. Used to be I would stop every couple of hours and get a cappacino and a fattening snack. Do you know how much money I save now? I pack up the beef Jerky, protien bars, Kashi Go Lean crunch and I'm one happy girl!

Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
