Hey Gang, I am at home tonight (Wed). Started the 24 hr job of caring for an elderly woman (87) who broke her hip in late Dec. Weellll, she has a pretty nice home, nice family and all but after 3rd day, I had to convince family that she is feeling worse instead of better. Her nephew came over yesterday and carried her to my van, I took her to Drs office. It was cold and she had fever taboot so that didn't help her any. Dr did xrays, etc. and called an ambulance from the office to take her to the hospital. I met her at Emergency room and stayed all day. I thought maybe she had pneumonia since she started coughing alot. Guess what! She had a blood clot in her lungs and is critical. I just about had a heart attack. I was up all day and all night with her for the whole time I was there. Poor thing. I am so glad she is in the hospital now. Anyway I came back home and was glad to get in my soft sheets and get a good nights rest. I am like Janet, the more tired I am the worse I concentrate. I took all of my special foods over there for me and tried to stay good but was kind of getting off track on the last day. Anyway, starting fresh again with a clean slate. Getting on daily plate again. I did take my lap top but could not get the wireless to work over there. While I was there I was very busy with her though. This little lady is very religious and much to my surprise she, too, cussed in the hospital yesterday. She looked straight at me and said "I'm F$$@#@%ed arent I. I had to leave her room. I couldn't even believe that a woman that age would even know that word but it was funny the way it came out. Glad to here that everyone is doing okay. Apples, yur still cookin arent' ya. I would love to come over there also. Maybe me and Janet will show up there one day and then we could go snow mobiling huh. Long good goin on your onederland. I have kind of been stuck at about 64 or 63 lbs up and down. I gotta pump up the exercise.

Love ya girls,

Beckyo:thumbup:

Beckyo, OMG it sounds as though this lady was awfully lucky you were there... good job.... I'm not sure I could do that kind of work and am so glad there are people who can... Oh, and I'm stuck, too.. I can't seem to make my scale move right now and it is frustrating.. but we have to just keep on plugging away. Sooner of later we're going to be where Janet and Apples and the others are at.. I'm really looking forward to it, too!!!!

Janet, if you are feeling like I have been, then you need a rest.. I was doing the Airbourne and Zimax and managed to stop it from going full blown, but I still have the sniffles and a bit of a runny nose... I've been lots worse, but no cold is fun.. Take care of yourself... we sure do need you...

Well, I feel my bed calling me so I'm closing for the night.. good night to all............. Julie

Hey Becky....yep, you can show up any time. There's always something to do around here. But, I am sooooo sick of snow...don't want to see it any more. The roads were terrible when I was on my way to doc today. I spun out on the highway...lucky no one was in the other lane at the time. I had to check my pants when I finally got there!

Hi Holly, thanks for the congrats, but as Janet said, you are doing a great job too, so congratulations on your success as well. I have my fill next Wednes. and I can't wait. Girls, the noodles were not my favorites -- they are very chewy and I don't particularly like the texture -- they are like top roman noodles but much chewier. So I don't necessarily recommend them for us bandsters. Janet, hugs and hope you feel better. Sharons you too, hope you feel better tomorrow. Linda

Ok getting started on my desk - will be cking back sooner than later - cuz I really don't feel like working --

Mornin' girls...

Yep, Janet, I air pop the popcorn and, nope, we don't grow popcorn. All our commodities leave here by train and go to destinations unknown. I spray my popcorn with I can't believe it's not butter spray and sprinkle with salt, brown sugar (splenda when I'm really watching my intake). So good.

Off to two volunteer jobs today from 12-6pm. Spring fever is really setting in and good to get out of the house. Have my lunches packed and ready to go. A banana bar (and yes, I will eat this first...cuz I can), seafood salad, crackers. Have dinner and supper in crockpots for the guys...homemade mac/cheese/ham, homemade beer bread for dinner. Supper is coke roast/taters/carrots/rutabagas and homemade honey wheat rolls. (Tried a new recipe from a GF). Wish I could eat it. Bread NEVER sits well with me. I do eat dried garlic toast and rusks (a dried bread with different flavorings).

Now, I imagine most of you (besides Julie out in ND) and giggling cuz I called our meals dinner and supper! We here are correct...the rest of the world has it wrong!

Have a great day!

Apples - DH's family is from Texas. It's dinner and supper to them, too! Hey folks - farmers and ranchers work hard all day - they need a lot of food in the middle of the day to keep a-goin'. Dinner and supper just makes sense.

Have a great day!

When I was in 6th grade I went w/my Grandma for a month to Texas - Main meal was noon - leftovers for dinner (supper) so I get it - it's most likely a better way to eat -I wish I had grown up that way...

I tried to eat 1/2 a cinnamon roll last nite after 2 bite it was to doughy - it came up.. so didn't count it as something I age

I can eat sandwich bread - and sour dough and busicuts & gravey - that's all I have really tried - I really try and stay away from it... I do have a chicken sandwich for lunch - had tuna yesterday - had a v8 so far this morning./

Oh popcorn is a diff kind of corn?? I use butter pam on my popcorn - I use to use a WW butter spray but they don't make it anymore - I am not a kettle corn girl...

I use to have an air popper - but now a days I just buy the bags - I should look for one....

That is right dinner and supper makes sense. Oh, Janet my Mom had a full length sable mink also. Don't know what happened to it. She past on in '92 at 65years old. The only daughter of the only daughter, you would think I would know where it was. She been married afew times. Don't think I would wear it much. I could see you snow mobiling in it though. Classy and all. Hope your feeling better.

My scales say I'm down three pounds below yesterdays Doc scales. Don't know what to beleive. Holly

Hey Apples, most of these girls are really country at heart... Around my house we use lunch and dinner to mean the noon meal. Just depends on the day. We don't eat big in the middle of the day, but I sure remember making those big meals when I was still at home. I was the cook while Mom and Dad and brothers were out working. Had to have a big meal at noon... They needed their strength.. It was Breakfast at 6:00 am (or earlier depending on the season), maybe a snack at 10:00 if they were around.. dinner at noonish... A big lunch anywhere from 4-6 pm and then supper when ever they quit for the day!!! That was a lot of food to prepare everyday for a bunch... but that was farm life.. Nowadays it has changed a bunch with the advent of so many bigger and better machines... But it's no wonder I was fat as a kid... all that food and I was the one at home making and eating it!!!!

Well, I stepped on the scale this morning (yup, Janet, couldn't help it) and it moved.. Now how can a person lose 2 pounds in one day??? I know this is part of the reason you think weekly is better.. But anyway, I'm happy.. So that's 307 today... Yippee... My first goal is 299... That will be 88 pounds gone... My next goal will be 100 pounds gone.. They are both within my reach now... Just have to be patient and disciplined... It's there waiting for me...

I woke up with a terrible case of trapped gas today and the worst backache.... The gas has subsided, but the back is still killing me.. Don't know if they are related or not, but will hope it passes by morning. My mother is here for the day, playing with her great granddaughter.. Mimi is sleeping now and mother is watching TV... All is quiet.. By the way I thought I should explain.. The baby's name is Laromi Kay..... (Pronounced like the city in Wyoming).. It is a made up name of letters from family members.. We do call her Mimi for short... Her mothers name is Kayla Ann and mine is Julie Kay..... Thus it is a truely family name.. I use the names interchangeably and figured I might be confusing people....

Holly, great news about the 3 pounds. Mine was two and I'm exstatic about it!!!!

Apples, I a cook, too, but have never seen a recipe for beer bread and what do you mean by coke roast... You put Coke on as the liquid or is it a marinade? Sounds like eating at your house would definitley be good....

Janet, hope your day with the phones and paperwork passes easily. I'm a retired accountant and can still get lost of hours at my desk...

Welcome to NeNe967, this is a great place to be

Linda, I don't think I want to try your noodles.. I'd rather miss the good ones....

Well, I should take advantage of the quiet and do something I can't do when she is awake....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
