Just a quick post, trying to atleast keep up with the reading. Grandma looks great this morning and I think she is going to do just fine. Leaving in 30 min to pick up mom and dad and show Grandma her new place.

But the biggest thing I wanted to post is, THE scale MOVED!! Only a half a pound but it's 199.0 now, tomorrow 198???

Good for you, Long! You KNOW it is going to go down... It's so hard to have the patience it takes to wait it out sometimes. By the doc's scale on Monday I had lost 5 lbs in 3 weeks since my last fill. That did not seem so bad - but on my scale it seemed like I had been stuck for a month! I can be very patient with other people - not so much with myself...

Good luck with your mom and dad - I know you have had issues with mom on other visits. You have not even mentioned that this time - I think you are more confident in your ability to accept situations and let some comments roll off. I hope so, because you are a remarkable person and inspiring to all your friends on LBTalk. Negative people never inspire anyone, unless maybe to run the other direction as fast as possible.

Hugs to you,

Hi.

just happen to find this site, it was meant to be.

I was banded in November 21 2006.

I need some advice on some what and how to stay

motivated through this journey.

Ive lost about 40 pounds and I've gain some back the

second year. I'm so upset with myself.

My family has been struggling with personal finances

and teen age issues.. I do work out 3-5 days a week.

It is the Water and food that I'm having issues with.

Thanks for listening

Janet....I don't know how you keep up with it all. You had an answer or comment for EVERYONE. I have a difficult time remembering which thread I am responding to half the time! Thanks for all you do.

Apples - That's why I quote everything - and even then I miss some stuff - but really try and hit the important issues.

LBT my transfer addiction..

Hi everyone, just checking in. Had a good day, tried a new Water aerobics class tonight -- like it better than the ones I take in the afternoons. It's good to have options. Julie, you've had a tough week, you're doing great - you must be a very strong person to deal with everything you've been dealing with this week. Just remember to take care of yourself too. It sounds like you do a great job of taking care of everyone else, but you're worth the trouble too you know. Proud of you for getting on that treadmill. I love my Water aerobics and hope you will get back to yours soon. Long, I loved that your grandma didn't recognize you at first -- that's wonderful - and I love your attitude about not being the fat sister any longer. It's someone else's turn. Good for you! Today was my weigh in day (only once a week) and I was happily surprised with 5 more lbs. gone! I was really shocked because I've been so hungry the last few days and felt like I've been eating more than usual, but was eating the right foods, just more of them. I'm looking forward to my fill next week. Hope you all have a good day tomorrow! We're supposed to have temps in the 50s here. Linda

Linda -CONGRATS ON YOUR 5 LBS that's fantastic !!!!!!

Kristine - Welcome !!!!

Today is a new day - you have found LBT and it's the greatest IMHO.. So much info..

Sorry for your struggles - and it seems everyone is going thru hard times right now with $$$ - Kids - Parents etc - we all have some kind of issue going on - some more difficult than others - but what we have to learn is not to turn to food in times of stress - cuz when we do - it just adds to our stress - we get so upset with ourselves for being weak.

Remember we are food addicts - food is our drug of choice.

Suggestion - Sit down plan a menu for the week - shop for that food - start tacking your food (dailyplate.com - sparkspeople.com - fitday.com)

This isn't about dieting but eating healthy - this is about gaining control in our lives - it's about improving our healthy and in doing that we can take better care of ourselves and others.

The sernity prayer - is good for everyone - accept what we can change and accept what we can't- there are things that we have no control over

Today is a new day - Pull up those bootstraps - move forward we can't change yesterday - Get back on the band wagon - make the committment to yourself to take care of you - You can do this - it takes a little work - but it can be done.

Go back to page one of this thread and read forward and you will get a little history on all our stories and my phyilosophy on getting healthy...

Look forward to having you as a member of our group.

Good morning gang..

I am getting a cold - I have already drank some airborn - I don't want to be sick - but feel crappy...

Another busy day - is it a full moon or what???

Just my usual check in - little late but better late than never right :0)...

Welcome, Kristine. I am new to this process myself - banded 3 months ago. I still feel pretty motivated, just because I'm learning so much. I do understand how difficult it is to deal with financial issues these days (we are retired, but DH went back to work several months ago for that very reason), and we survived the teenage years of 3 kids - you have a lot of tough issues on your mind. I do know it is really good that you are exercising so regularly. There are great people on this thread who have been through it all and are successful at the weight loss and maintenance phases. I know they will have words of wisdom - and we all care about you and want you to be successful. Hang on!

Hugs,

Hi girls, I'm back on my regular computer and hope I'm getting everything installed properly again.. Such a rig-a-ma-roll just to have a computer that works right!!!

Welcome, Kristine.. I understand your issues.. I have children issues and they are 36, 31, and 25...... It never really stops, you just learn to handle it differently I think!! I can tell you from first hand experience that you've chosen the right thread to join.. These gals know what they're doing and are here to help!! I'm relatively new here and have only been banded a bit over 6 months.. Glad you're here and just let us know how you're doing and what you're feeling.. We'll help....

I MADE IT TO MY SWIM AEROBICS CLASS TODAY!!! DH stayed with Mimi and I had an hour's driving time alone to just chill and an hour in the pool to refresh and exercise. It was good.. Can't go Friday as Mother has 2 Dr's appointments in Bismarck starting at 8:00.... Will be up early that day.. May be able to get something done in the afternoon if I get home at a decent hour...

My little great niece got home from the hospital yesterday with a breathing machine... This is good... So, her baptism is on and I have Breakfast for 50 to get ready for Sunday.. I started doing some baking yesterday and put in the freezer.. I used to own a restaurant and cooking for a crowd doesn't intimidate me at all. I just have to get my plan in order. Have the plan ready, just need to do a bit more grocery shopping and the actual preparations.. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this time.. Blizzard stoped us the last time..

Gosh, I'm so happy for all the ones losing pounds.. and a bit envious, too.... Janet, I don't know if I can stop weighing myself everyday.. It's something I've done for so long... I'll try, but no promises.. After my bad day yesterday, the scale said "no change" today... still 309..... at least I'm not 310 0r 311..this is a good thing!! So far today is a good day.. Baby has gone home for the day and I'm about to go get my hair done.. Have been waiting for 5 months for a perm that I need very badly.. My Hair loss seems to have stopped now and hopefully this one will take this time..

Lenten services tonight so I'm off to church after my perm.. They serve a light supper beforehand, so hopefully it will be something I can have... Soup at least... Must pick up Mother and 3 other ladies, too... Take care all.......God's blessings.... Julie

Kristine, welcome to your new home. This is the greatest thread and everyone is wonderful here. Just make it a habit to check in every day and let everyone know how you're doing. It's fantastic that you have such an active lifestyle. I'm just getting back in the groove after a 10 year vacation from the gym (it's amazing how those years flew by and I can't believe it took me 10 years to get back to exercising). In fact I just returned from my workout -- recumbant bike, circuit machines and then Water aerobics and I'm tired, but a good tired. My hubby goes to the water aerobics too -- he is disabled/retired as he had both hips replaced in 2000 and 2001 so water aerobics is good for him too. Kristine, I hear you when you say you have had teenage problems and financial problems. I raised my son (now 36) and then raised my three step children (from ages of 3, 9 and 12). The youngest is just turning 20 on Sunday and he's still a big pain! We had two kids with juvenile diabetes and they both refuse to take care of themselves. The 20 year old almost died at Christmas -- his girlfriend found him passed out - his blood sugar was 1500! The other one is my grandbaby's mother and she's 25 and still refuses to take good care of her diabetes. I look at how skinny she is and worry about her driving the baby in the car. As Janet said, we must repeat the serenity prayer -- because truly, there are things we have no control over and worrying about them all just makes us crazy. We'll keep you in our prayers and hope it all gets better soon. My girlfriend's teen aged grandson was just arrested for car burglarly. It's tough raising kids, so we just need to keep positive thoughts if possible. I was on Hungry-girl.com the other day and read about the tofu noodles, so I ordered some. They just came today -- have any of you tried them? They also had some other low carb/low fat items I ordered to try - a muffin mix and a brownie mix. Julie, so glad you made it to your water aerobics class -- good for you. Thanks to everyone who congratulated me on my weight loss this week -- it's nice to have friends to share it with. No one else seems to be noticing that I've lost weight - it's weird how no one mentions it (except my hubby and kids). I know it's gotta be noticeable after 50 lbs. Maybe they think it's rude to comment, not sure. I know Janet said the other night one of her co-workers and client never mentioned her weight loss either. It's just interesting. It's 51 here today -- I didn't wear a jacket when I went out today -- hooray for sunshine and blue skies! Have a great day/night everyone! Linda

Hugs to you,

Ahh, Joann, you brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much. I do feel I am getting more confident. Though mom can rip at that pretty good. LOL If you look up negativity in Websters, you'll find her photo. So far it's going okay though and commented positively on my weight loss! I am much better at letting the small stuff roll off and saving my ammunition so to speak for the bigger battles when she crosses the line. Grandma is tired but saw her apt for the first time and liked it so that is good. Well family calls.

Julie - I am glad today is a better day - Becky's not here right now cuz she is working but she too use to weigh in daily - I think I got her to stop - If you do step on it during the week before you weigh in day - it doesn't count - it only counts what it says on your weigh in day.. Glad you had some me time - you really need it.. And getting your hair done is always fun - I love hanging out in the beauty shop..

Linda - My DS will be 38 in July and just this past year his life style put his whole family at risk and got his wife hurt very badly so I know all about the drama that our kids cause us too - I have a GF who's DD has diabetes and she doesn't take care of herself either -heck her 2 grown kids still live at home - So I guess the moral of this story is that it seems like everyone had drama in their lives - we aren't alone in this issue or with are weight - as I always say we are more alike that we will ever know.

51 and no jacket - I would be freezing...

Big cyber hug to all of us with drama be it kids, parents, work whatever it is we have each other to lean on and vent to instead of eating our way thru it :0)

Holly you are doing very well yourself - you have a lower bmi and 25 lbs in 30 days is nothing to sneeze at - You have made great strides too... Own it !! you deserve it !! you have done the work...

Glad your fill went smoothly - My doc numbs you up before a fill and my 1st time it took him awhile to find the soft spot in my port.

Oh ya - is everyone eating off of dessert plates or using childrens plates/bowls and sliverware - if not - it's another trick to use....

Evening Ladies - looks like everyone is in fairly good spirits. I'm exhausted, mentally and physically. I'm taking a "do nothing" evening tonight - yes Janet, no treadmill tonight, if anything I might knock out the sit-ups but, right now - I just want to be a vegetable, just for today. I'll be back on it tomorrow. Eating was fairly well today, off my regular pattern due to early start, but I think I did ok. I meant to pick up some Protein Bars when I went shopping this weekend. Definitely on the grocery list now. Well that's it for today.

Long - What a time to find out about medical issues, hopefully things will be manageable and the stones are merely a blip on the radar screen.

Ms. Bubba - don't do so much that you don't have enough for yourself.

Welcome to all just joining and **waving** at Apples, Joann, Phylis and everybody; I can never keep up with all the post, but you are all becoming a part of my day to day and you keep me on track most of all. I need you all! Have a great evening

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
