Is there a special diet we need to follow?

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on January 2006 and have not lost any weight! frown.gif My doctor did not put me on any special diet and told me that my band would tell me when to stop eating

I can't eat anything in the morning (I even have a hard time drinking hot tea) and at lunch it takes me about an hour and a half to eat a WW dinner. For supper, I usually eat pretty good, but sometimes I have a hard time and it takes me a long time to eat. I am use to cold food.< /p>

I have tried joining WW which is not working (that is why I had this surgery) and things are so depressing... I have had 3 fills one un-fill and 2 more fills.

I am now drinking whey Protein in my sugar free drinks. It is OK, but I really do not know if I should go the low carb, low calorie or what diet.

I am self paid and will be paying on this unsuccessful surgery for 3 more years.

Is anyone else out there having the same problems?

Fergie,

It's time to sit down with your Dr. and have a long talk about your surgery. You need to get this information:

What type of band did he put in?

How many Cc's can it hold?

How many Cc's were added for each fill?

How many CC's are in their now?

What was your starting BMI and what is your current BMI?

Is your Dr. using fluoroscopy and barium for your fills? Ask him to go over the results with you.

After you get all of this information make an appointment to meet with the nutritionist. Explain to your Doctor that you have paid a lot of money for this surgery and that your aftercare isn't up to the standards you expected.

You need to be the one who takes charge of this now. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
