Is my thinking correct in regards to the bang?

Recommended Posts

I’m a 53 year old male weighing in at 325 pounds. My problem is that I do not have a little switch that tells me I’m full so I keep eating. I get envious of people who push their meal away before the plate is empty. I’m hoping the lap band can be that switch for me. I would appreciate your thoughts.

Hi, I'm just banded. 3/25. At 53 and a male, it is the best thing I have ever done. Yes, you feel so full on a fraction of what you are now eating. Do your research, read the posts, put yourself first. I'm down 45pds since starting this journey. Take care

I was also one that would never EVER push a plate away till it was clean. This i must say is the one thing that i am totally able to do now with out feeling deprived. I will say that the FULL feeling is different then before, i dont know that its actually a FULL feeling rather then just the feeling that ive had enough and need to stop. The band has made Portion Control easy for me wich was my biggest issue pre-band.

Hi Electraglide:

For sure, once banded you will have to push the plate away. If not, there will be some regurgitation going on, and it's not pretty or comfortable.

Even with those occasional side effects I am so glad I was banded. I started at 324 and this morning I weighed 193. I exercise alot and I feel about 20 years younger than I did a year ago.

Do you have a date for surgery yet? Where are you being banded? I went to Glasgow & Glasgow in Norwood. They have a great group there. They're very caring and supportive.

Best wishes to a fellow Massachusetts lapbandtalker. I'm in Norwood.

Sue

I had the same concerns when I was thinking about the Lapband and am really suprised that I can push the plate away and not feel mad. I think alot of it has to do with the whole process. With each phase you go through your body learns that it is okay not to finish everything on your plate. The whole process is amazing and I have no regrets. I recommend this surgery for anyone that is ready for the commitement.

Hi Sue,

You are amazing. So much in a year! WOW. I want to ask you something. I was just banded a month ago. I'm down 29 or 30 depending what day it is. Once I went to soft foods, my weight loss seems to stay in a two pound range, never moving past and down. I know it's only a week or so, but it's scary. Ice cold scary. I'm walking daily and for me, having worked my way to about a mile, I'm happy. I was getting very immoblile. I'm drinking tons of water- that's not an issue, and I'm eating between 700 and 800 calories-just going back to solids this week.

I'm aggravated because back on South Beach I didn't hit a plateau of months and I didn't even exercise.

Do you have any memories of early plateaus? Any advice?

Many thanks, Gwenn

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
