browneyedgoddes 0 Posted May 29, 2008 Hey Everyone I just have a couple of concerns and questions. I was banded on 05 20 08. And every since day 3 I have been cheating by eating foods like mashed potatoes and green Beans. But the thing of the matter is I have not once vomited. I have lost 11 pounds post op even though I have been eating mushy foods. I know the most important thing is that the doctor's dont want you to vomit to stretch your stomache. I have not vomited not once. It was today though that I ate mushed bannana I got very nauseated but I didnt throw up. I have and continue to lose wieght on because I feel a restriction after eating 3 or 4 bites of my food.< /p> I am just wondering if this is healthy for me. I'm not vomiting and I am contining to lose the wieght. Tell me what you think..... Thanks Samantha
BayCityBandster 1 Posted May 29, 2008 i think you are risking long-term complications with your band. i think you should stop. but i know how hard it is, and tho i haven't cheated yet, it is tempting. it can really hurt you tho. don't do it.
bbjerseygirl 0 Posted May 29, 2008 You are in the beginning stages of healing and as others have told you it is important to follow doctors orders. As the swelling in stomach goes down you will feel hungrier, but that doesn't mean you should eat what is not allowed. You have no restriction and this phase of the lapband process is not about dieting, but about healing. You may be able to eat what you are not allowed, but that doesn't mean you are not doing harm to the stomach or the band. You may not know until later that you have so you really need to follow what you doc has prescribed. It is hard to do and you are not alone. Others have cheated as well, but you are only harming yourself. It is possible to eat the wrong stuff and be okay but is it worth the risk? You didn't go thru all this to have unnecessary complications. Please stick to your doctors instructions so that you have a successful and uncomplicated journey with the band. Do the best you can to comply, it is hard, but you can do it. Before you know it you will be eating regular foods and feeling better. Hang tough and then in a few more weeks you will get some restriction to help you. Take care and congrats on surgery. You will do great! :wink2:
Pnw_Red 2 Posted May 29, 2008 You need to follow your doc's orders! I have seriously the most lenient post-op eating schedule I've heard of, and even my doc had me on liquids only for the first week. I'd encourage you to rally yourself for a few tough weeks and stick to your doc's plan as close as possible. It's really a very short time in the grand scheme of things! Yes, it's hard, but you'll get better results with less stress and worry if you stick to plan. Good luck!
