:lol::lol:

I was supposed to be banded today while in the pre opt room IV in arm all ready to be banded the heart monitor shows these weird heart beats so the dr cancelled surgery and sent me to the cardio Dr I was so lucky to get in today and they did an ultra sound and a stress test on a trad mill and sent me home with a monitor for 24hrs I hope everything goes ok so I can get back on the schedule again I am so sad right now I was also told I had a heart murmur I am not sure what happens next but I had to just get it out. Has anyone been thur this

So sorry to hear of your troubles, Lilnora. Hopefully you can get things resolved and get on the road to the band again. Take care.

I am surprised that this never came up before, especially since the hospital should have done a Pre-op checkup about 10 days before surgery.

I would follow up with both my PCP and surgeon to get the ball rolling so you can have the surgery.

Good luck. :scared2:

Oh how frustrating! I would be a basket case if that happened to me. I have atrib---heart suddenly beats fast for a little while then goes back to normal. Am on blood thinner for it, but Cardio has encouraged me to look into the surgery. So, hopefully, you will get a sound diagnosis and get right back in line for the surgery. Hand in there and let us know how things turn out. Take care.

So sorry to hear about the delay. I am glad they found this out as oppose to having problems in surgery. Good luck getting rescheduled.

I'm sorry to hear this also. :scared2: Be patient though and I'm sure it will work out in the end!

So sorry to hear that Lilnora. But, be glad they found the problem pre-op rather than when you were on the table. Doesn't help much, I know.

I was on track for gastric bypass in Feb. of 2007. I had completed 6 months of classes twice a month, ekg, stress test, sleep study, breathing test, and a host of other things. The last test they did was a mammogram, and they found stage 3 breast cancer. I had a mastectomy, chemo and radiation.

But, on April 14, I got the lap band! So, it was a delay, but I'm glad. After my body going through the trauma that it did, I decided that gastric bypass would be too much. I'm so glad that things worked out the way they did and I ended up with the band. Much safer and easier.

Hang in there! It will happen!

Karin

What an experience for you, I am sorry you had to go through that. Did they not have you get an EKG during all your pre-op testing? Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Like everyone else, I'm shocked they didn't pick up on your issues PRIOR to being in pre-op!! In the six months prior to surgery I felt I had every test in the book done, including the EKG and stress test on the treadmill.

Well, we're all rooting for you--do keep us informed, girl!

My doctor is making me have an ekg before even thinking about cutting me open. I don't understand why some doctors don't do it.

Oh that's terrible to be so close and have it yanked like that. I'm sure that the Dr. did what was in your best interest. I hope the murmur thing doesn't prevent you from having the surgery at all.

Have they told you what to expect?

I am an RN and wanted to tell you that it is really good that your doctor is being so careful. I am so sorry that you had gotten so far before they discovered the quirky heart beat. I know how mentally ready I was for the surgery and how much that would have crushed me to be told I had to wait, especially with the IV already in my arm! Pull back, take a deep breath and see this for what it is though--a bump in the road on your way to giving yourself the best gift you could possibly ever receive! And because your doctor is being so cautious you can KNOW that you are doing it the safest way possible. When you find yourself lying there the next time getting the IV started you won't have to worry about the surgery itself! Your doc sounds like the kind who truly cares for his patients! Hang in there my friend!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
