Are you sure you didn't misunderstand and he what he actually said was liquids. I've never heard of a doctor saying only Water. I was able to have anything that would go through a straw from the getgo. I would suggest you call your doctor back Monday, you should at least be drinking stuff like instant Breakfast or Protein Drinks.

I'll bet you ARE starving. You, well at least I could have s/f popcicles, s/f Jello, and all the liquids I could drink. Let us know how it's going and good luck.

I drank a quarter of a Protein Shake, that filled me up, but the gas is killing me.

Try some gas-x and try to walk as much as you can. Walking helps get rid of the gas. Glad you had some Protein. I drank wonton Soup, without the wontons and egg drop soup, just strained the eggs. Both were very good and healthy too. sugar free popcicles were also quite yummy, helped when you had that urge to chew on something. Please stay in touch.

Hey there Jorjet...You are allowed 3oz of dilluted juice, apple, white grape, gatorade..dilute half and half with Water. You should be drinking 1oz every 20 min, so 3 oz will last u an hour. For me, it was hard to drink , the more i drank the more gas I had. But Simethicone pills that disolve in your mouth are good for the gas. That pain is bad. You can also have chicken broth FF, low sodium diluted. sugar free popsicles.....Hope you are doing well. Just try to get that liquid in, you don't want to become dehydrated.

Hi Everyone,

I am feeling much better today, thank you all so much for getting me through a rough day.

I had a popsicle this afternoon, and some gator ade...what a difference.

I went to the grocery store with my husband, as he picked out his weeks supply of T.V.dinners...LOL....

I think the best part of my day was getting a shower...LOL.

Are any of you going to Mauri's support meeting tomorrow?

Thanks again everyone...

Hugs

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
