This weeks Bandsters 4/25-4/30

WOw.. guess I was fighting the napping and stuff this week. When my husband left for work this morning I took a pain med and laid back down... my principal (I teach) woke me up at 11 when he called with a question... wow... I haven't slept that late in heaven knows... I had restless dreams last night and during that "nap"... but must have needed it... I gotta stop fighting my body and if it wants rest give it to it... I had thought about going to school this morning for the kids signing up for next years classes day... glad I decided against it. How long did most of you stay off work? My doc. said to take two weeks.. that seemed extreme, but maybe I need to...

Still feeling weird when I take a deep breath, that bothers me... did anybody else experience that?

Hey Char, I got the wierd feeling with the deep breath. After about week 2 it went away but now I have hit week 3 and it's back, but a little different. It's either leftover from the surgery, in which case I occasionally take slow deep breaths to keep my lungs clear. Or it's indigestion from trying new mushies that may not be mushy enough? In that case, I sip Water or tea. Or I'm getting a cold or other type of virus making my lungs congested...in that case I'm taking a nap.

Glad you got extra sleep. You bet you needed it! Like I said, I am at 3 weeks out now and I'm still paying for overdoing it yesterday. Too much running around like I'm in my 20's, and too much lifting of my little one, who is 2 and weighs, 28?lbs or so. I am very careful when I need to lift him but it catches up.

You could try going in to work on Monday and would be fine, but I'm warning you, be completely off the hook when you get home. Have hubby bring his own dinner home, paper plates, no dishes, no chores, sofa time whether you think you need it or not. Let Oprah entertain you...

If you are very exhausted, you know to take the next few days off. I'm tellin ya, I don't feel horrible by any means, but I feel that I had surgery 3 weeks ago and I'm taking it easy cheesy mon! You should too!!!

Thanks Kathy... good to hear that it isn't unusual for the breathing pain to still be here... might help too if I put on a bra!!! LOL... but it feels good to not have it rubbing against the incesions. So, what did you start with when you started eating the mushies? I'm amazed at houw much I'm enjoying yogurt (always hated it when I was trying to "diet") and I love a popsicle!!! Amazing!!!

Welcome to the new crop of Bandsters! It would be getting crowded, except we are all getting smaller! :)

Breathing deeply might be a bit uncomfortable, but your diaphram is probably still very sore. It just isn't used to being moved and shifted! But it is very important to try so you don't get any lung issues.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
