Anyone else eating normal?

Recommended Posts

Hey, I know how you all feel. I've had the band now for 5 months and have had three fills. I know that I need to go in for the fourth fill, cause I am eating about anything and everything that I want! Once in a while something, like chicken or beef, will cause some discomfort, but I know that the restriction isn't enough, when I eating big-fat yeast rolls and a bag of tortilla chips or several slices of pizza..yah, sometimes not right. Still have the most restriction in the mornings, but I rarely get to eat before noon anyway, so I so hungry by then that I can pretty much pack it in. Yes, I know, it's a lot of 'head-hunger.' Working on that. I know that the Band is only a tool....but seriously my tool needs some repair or something. It's easy to get discouraged when you feel yourself slipping back into the same old habits and finding that you can actually eat those foods that you were told you couldn't. Relearning is a challenge. So, yes, I'm having trouble with being able to eat the 'wrong' foods and too much of the right ones! We have to keep our spirits up and keep focused on this journery. Like that saying, "God never said promised life would be easy, He just promised it would be worth it." And we all know that the end result for us, will be worth it.

OK, this 2nd fill has done the trick so far. I am restricted and feeling it. I have never really been hungry since being banded though. Not like I was before the band. I have to change my habits. Instead of mind over body; its now body is controlling the mind. I see it and want it, but can't have it--physically can't have it. The chest pain is unbearable and lasts so long. Now if I don't chew well enough--it has to come back up. There's no other way. But then if I eat too fast or eat too much, I am still totally miserable. It lasts for 1-3 hours depending on what it was I ate. Dense Protein is the worse. The hard part is knowing how fickle my band is -- sometimes I can eat and sometimes I can't.

Yeah, I am eating normally again...time for another fill. I have had 2 fills of tiny amounts. I know I need another one, but I don't want to see my doctor as he will weigh me. However, maybe making the appointment will make me get into gear!

I am going to the doc today for what will be my 4th fill but am really conflicted over if I should get one. Some meals I can eat a fair amount probably more than I should yet there are times after 2 bites I am full or start to get that chest pain and twice in the last month I have full on vomited after eating and I hardly ate anything but I think it might have been too greasy, once was Breakfast sausage, once a hamburger no bun which I ate about 1 oz of if that. Any advice out there?

I haven't been on the site in awhile. I was feeling discouraged. I was due for my 3rd fill at the end of october but after meeting with the nutritionist she thought it might not be a good idea. I have of trouble w. frothing & full on vomiting after the majority of meals which encourages me to eat "easy " foods like sweets or certain chips. I haven't been exercising consistently which also doesn't help. I'm hoping that getting back on this site actively will be a step in the right direction!

ursa first of all you are losing weight before the band weren't you finding yourself always putting on a pound or 2 when you got on the scale? That alone is a success story! Perhaps you are vomiting and sliming after eating because you are either eating too much or NOT chewing well enough. I have had 3 fills and if I take too big of a bite or eat too fast I am sliming or vomiting so I need to make a real effort to control HOW I eat not what I eat. Good Luck.

Well, I am totaly disappointed with my 4th fill. I finally have some changes, but it's definitely not what I expected. I have a lot of discomfort and a some pain. It happens with the first couple of bites. I also PB after the first few bites. I end up having to spit out a lot of what I have eaten. I'm starting to feel like a bulimic!

I am also not feeling full. I have asked other people if they feel satisfied or just uncomfortable. They say they are satisfied and not hungry for four hours. All I feel is discomfort or pain, and I am starting to fell nervous whenever I eat. I guess that alone will keep me from overeating! I know I will be losing weight after this past week post-fill because I can't really seem to handle eating.

I plan on speaking to the nurse next week, but I was out of town all last week and so I didn't have a chance. I can't imagine that I am filled too tight because if so, wouldn't I feel full?

I had my fifth fill and I don't think it is my sweet spot yet. I can still eat a whole Lean Cuisine. The problem I have is eating chicken or turkey. I can't seem to chew it enough and boy is it painful. However, if I eat a Lean Cuisine with chicken or turkey it doesn't bother me. I think because their chicken and turkey isn't as dry. The nurse said that they have a lot of patients that have problems with chicken and turkey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
