high blood pressure

well, at today's first post op appointment my blood pressure was quite high, 161/92. they took it a few different times and it didn't go below 148/89. i've never had high blood pressure my entire life. sometimes it's slightly higher than normal at the doctors, but this just seems a bit too high. anyone have any similar problems post op?

My blood pressure went up also right after surgery. It had never been that high either. The doctor ended up keeping me in the hospital overnight because of it and then had me go to my primary doctor a few days later. I was put on a low dose of some blood pressure medication and now it's fine. I'm hoping to get off that soon after I loose some weight.

Your body is probably still freaking out a bit from the surgery and the drastic change in eating. It'll even out, I'll bet. Maybe its from your body not having food really and trying to adjust.

Do you have a family history of hypertension? Both my parents have hypertension and at an early age (25 like yourself) I was put on bp meds. It's a serious thing, don't take it lightly. :frown:Watch it for a couple of months and if it doesn't go down then you should see your PCP. You may need a low dose. You could also try drinking more Water, reducing your sodium intake and exerising more. All good things to wash away excess salt in our bodies!
