Did anyone have a change up with their monthly after surgery? I know that Im not pregnant. Already tested myself b4 surgery and after.

My husband got scared when he saw all the tests. We have two little ones already.

Also what is a realize band that I keep reading about?

Anesthesia can TOTALLY mess up your cycle. I had an appendectomy in high school and it too a YEAR for my period to regulate back to normal.

Not unusual at all.

I had surgery on May 16th and got my period three days later...I wasn't due for another 2 weeks. It made me cranky.

My TOM has become much more intense, and I am on the pill. I see a definite difference post banding. It is almost like the intensity has doubled. It is not the same issue but similar in that there is a definite hormonal difference post banding.

Any stress to your body such as surgery can disrupt your period. Not only that, but losing weight quickly can upset it too. Your body is trying to conserve its supplies, so to speak, and getting rid of your period is one way to do it.

I missed my period if I got sick or had any emotional upset when I was younger. Don't have to worry about that any more.

I've had 14+ operations and this is the FIRST time I did not get my period back. I mean I was already irregular, but this is a first for me. My doctor did say that since our hormones are stored in our fat it is possible that by body is adjusting to the changes.

Crazy... 5 months with no cycle?!

Man when I was younger any MAJOR stressfull times would trigger my period. not so much anymore now though but still things like a surgery will trigger it still. no matter when in the cycle it happens i can count on TOM visiting if the stress/anxiety level gets high enough.

I got my period the morning of the surgery.... blech! As if I wasn't feeling gross enough when I woke up!

Since then, it has been really bizarre. It's probably something to do ith going on the pill - I started back on the pill the same day as the surgery, after having a contraceptive implant removed 3 months before. Since the surgery, I get a period about every 2 weeks, and they last about a week. Even on the pill. It's crazy-go-nuts. Then again, I also have severe polycystic ovarian syndrome. So I'm 3 months banded and have a completely messed up cycle. I've been waiting a month to get an appointment with the gynaecologist, and they think it will be about another 3 months before I can get in. So for now, all I can do is wait! Grrrr!

It is prob. because u had the implants removed and your cycle has been stopped for so long... it will regulate after a few months....

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
