So i was banned on 1/25/08 and have been happy so far. But I have not had ANY soda or beer since. I don't really want soda, I'm happy with Propel and CL. But i would love to have a beer from time to time. I hear a number of reasons for not having it. From the gas will do something to the band to it hurts if you try and drink it. So has anyone had a tap beer and if so how has it been?

You have to temper it. If it hurts going down I wouldn't have it. I drink champagne on a regular basis without problem. You need to just try it to see if it gives you any gas or backup problems. Enjoy.

I haven't had in any in 6 months but took a sip of my husbands beer last weekend. First sip was okay. the second felt funny so I stopped immediately. I dind't want to go there. I miss my beer too. But I have switched to an occasional glass of wine or a small bloody mary with V8 instead. I works for me.

Yeah, I'm thinking this summer on a hot day that a cold beer would hit the spot but I'm afraid it may be more trouble than it's worth.

I drank beer regularly up until my last fill. I had 7ccs in a 10cc band and drank beer fine. Now I have 9ccs and can't get it to go down. I guess i'll quit drinking beer, but taquila has no bubbles in it.

Alcohol and the band is a funny thing. Be careful when you decide to experiment with it. It now packs a punch. I went to Vegas recently with my DH and went to an awesome tower overlooking the city for drinks. I had two small martinis. I don't remember going down the elevator or leaving that place, or riding in the taxi. That's scarey. I wasn't like that prior to a band, so BE CAREFUL.

I am at 2.5 in a 4cc and drink beer on my days off and don't have any problems if I drink slowly.Just keep in mind all those useless empty calories.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
