bandfan1 0 Posted May 27, 2008 I had my first fill today!! Once again, another breeze of a procedure!! I didn't even feel the prick of the needle!! The doctor had my lie on the table, tighten my stomach muscles and lift my head. I had to do this to put pressure against the port while he felt for it. He filled me with 1.5cc's and then had me sip Water. I felt the saline going into the band and when I sipped Water, I definitely felt restriction. It kind of sat there for a minute and then went down slowly. I am on only Clear liquids today and then very soft food for a couple of days after that!!! :smile2:

neverB4 2 Posted May 28, 2008 I just pray I can hold out until my 1st fill...on July 1st!!!!! That's almost 8wks post-op. My surgeon does no sooner than 6wks, but he's that booked. Right now I think I can do it because I'm also praying for no fill, for at least 6 mos!!
bandfan1 0 Posted May 28, 2008 Yes, you have nothing to worry about!! The only problem that I have had since is that I completely forgot that I had the band and I took an allergy pill this morning (a big one too!!). It sat in my throat for a good 2 hours. I kept sipping hot liquids to melt it!!! I am definitely feeling restriction with this fill....
feelgoodagain 0 Posted May 28, 2008 Bandfan, I got my first fill today also! We are on the same schedule so far. Mine went well also. The needle burned but, I think because my scars are still alittle touchy. I had to lay down, put my feet together and pick them up 6 inches off the table and then he filled. I didn't ask how much he filled. I thought about it after I left. I also had to drink a liquad but, mine was thick stuff while they watched and xray to make sure it was working fine. Well, good luck and glad to hear all went well! To the May Flowers! Hooray we are on our way!

Allison 2 Posted June 3, 2008 Congrats!! I can already feel restriction and I have just been banded! Eating is so strange now, I'm so used to wolfing down an entire chicken pot pie in 10 mins (alright one of the personal sized ones but still... ) Now it takes me 15 -25 mins to get a yogurt down! I'm sure this will stop once all this swelling goes down.
bandfan1 0 Posted June 5, 2008 I have been experiencing "sliming" a lot in the last couple of days. I was "filled" about 1 week ago. I was ok until just the last couple of days. This morning I left the house at 10:00 to get my haircut. There was a wait, so I went to get an Egg McMuffin at McDonalds. I took the egg out and ate it. I took 2 bites of the ham and everything got "stuck"!!! When I returned to the hairdresser, I went straight to the bathroom because I thought I was going to vomit. It was really disgusting and took a good 20 minutes for it to resolve. Luckily the girl who cuts my hair wasn't ready for me until after the food went down!!! They must have thought that I was bulemic or something because I must have gone to the bathroom about 10 times!!! It is not a fun experience. Later in the day, I took a small bite of meatloaf (very soft). It got stuck!!! :tt1: That's it!! No more eating for me!!! Just kidding
Allison 2 Posted June 5, 2008 ouch bandfan!!! I'm so scared about getting stuck! How do you get it back up??? I'm not even filled yet and I already had a one too many popsicle and "foamed" all of the popsicle up for like 15 minutes it was awful!!
bandfan1 0 Posted June 5, 2008 Hey Allison: that "foaming" is the same thing as "sliming"!! It's pretty gross!! When the food got stuck, my body just produced an over abundance of mucous (must be an automatic response). I just kept spitting it out and while I was trying to burp, the food came out... Sorry to be so graphic. The good news is that it was not as bad as actually throwing up used to be from your stomach with all those nasty acids!! I am convinced that my old bad habits are making this happen. I have to cut my food on my plate and then put it into my mouth. I am so accustomed to taking big bites and big swallows. It's a big adjustment. By the way, I just noticed tonight that you had sent some personal messages. I wasn't ignoring you, I'm still learning how to navigate this site!! I hope all is well with you and all of the other May flowers.
