No Time for Exercise - Ranting

Recommended Posts

*sigh*...i'm so frustrated right now...i've been literally working 7 day weeks as of late and spent all this money on a gym that I can't get to. By the time I am heading home these days its 10 at night and i'm ready to fall head first into the bed. I feel like I'm defeating myself and my band by not aiding with exercise.

My mom and friends tell me to get up earlier but frankly given the long days I have I am loathe to do that and still have to get home late at night...I'd be burning both ends of the candle.

The one thing I have thought about was leavign a little bit earlier and getting off one stop before my train stop to walk teh rest of the way to work but that doesn't really seem to be much in the way of exercise and I'm only seeing about a pound a week drop. I still have some restriction (especially in the morning) and i'm due for my first fill on 4/29. Also, I know that the first month isn't about losing weight per se but I just want to feel like I'm progressing...I want beautiful after pics with tight shirts and hip huggers like everyone else and i'm so excited about the prospect that I feel like I should be doing more...Wahhh wahh wahh.

Where are you Vera? How's the house?

Hi gyp -

I feel your pain. My new "strategy" is to get my heart rate up for just ONE minute every hour at work. So far I've gotten it done three times each day. I am lucky that we have a small gym here, so I just get on the elliptacle machine and go as fast as I can for a minute. Seems like an hour... lol But I'm breathing heavy, and I can feel my heart going for a good 5 minutes afterwards.

I have no idea if this will do anything for furthering my health goals, but this last time I went for my minute I did 1.5 - it's only like my 6th time in two days, and already it seems as though it's getting easier.

Okay, now that I've written this out it seems super silly, but I'm doing it anyway - I figure it can't hurt. lol

So maybe you can do a few calisthetics in your cube every hour? Just for a minute or two?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
