Hey,

I have a question, maybe someone here can help.

I recently (as of a few weeks ago) stopped taking my birth control pill. I of course bled for a few days which is a side effect when you stop taking it. Now, I've recently been feeling very sick. Lots of nausea and literally NO appetite at all. It comes and goes in waves. I've also been feeling very tired and shakey, my hands shake sometimes too. I can barely eat anything without it making me feel so sick.

I had a fill about 2 months ago and have had no problems. It's been a couple of months and I feel like NOW I have tons of restriction out of nowhere. I feel like I can't eat anything and what's worse is I don't even want to! Even with the fill, my appetite was not completely surpressed. Lately, I don't even want to LOOK at food. I try to eat and take one bite and I throw it out.

Is this normal?

Could it be stress??

A friend told me that any side effects from when you stop taking birth control should not last longer than one week. It's been about 3 weeks now..

Any thoughts/advice??

Thanks

I see you're with BIDMC.....I had my surgery done there as well. Why not direct your questions to Dr. Schneider or one of the nurses. They should be able to help you right away. Is there a chance you're pregnant? Since you stopped taking your birth control pills and you're saying youre getting that sick feeling...could it be morning sickness?

Good luck.

I have an appt there in about another week. I think I might just hold off and see what they say. I'm pretty convinced it's symptoms from having stopped taking the pill. But it's been so long! I wish it'd stop already..

I don't think I'm pregnant. I sure hope not.. I've been safe, So I'd be shocked to hell If I were!

Thx : )

You could be having a hormonal imbalance, that was corrected when you were taking BC, and now it's stopped. That's not necessarily a side effect, just a result of not taking the hormones anymore.

Depending on your bleeding, or just flukey timing, maybe you're becoming anemic. I was a little anemic last year when I went off of b/c to do surgery. I took Iron pills from CVS (when I remembered) and it eventually went away.

Best advice though is to check with your doc, they may want to do a blood workup to see if anything is going on.

A friend told me that any side effects from when you stop taking birth control should not last longer than one week. It's been about 3 weeks now..

I was having breakthrough bleeding on my BC pill so my Dr. put me on the Ortho Evera patch. I was wacked out for 4 weeks. I can't even describe what I felt like, I just kept telling my husband, I'm in a funk that I can't snap out of. I was miserable. I had a HUGE deadline I was working on at work and thought maybe I was just caught up in the stress or something. Then my husband asked, when did you start taking those new Patches. He was right, that "funk" I was feeling was directly related to the new bc. It took about 4 weeks, then I took them off for a week and felt much better. I have a lot of "women" issues so I decided to try them again. It wasn't quite so bad then next month, now I just get a little weird feeling the first day I put them on and it gets better as the week goes by. With Patches you get kind of a "surge" of Estrogen with each new patch so that is why I feel so weird, the flux of hormones.

I hope this helped, I totally think all you have described is related to the bc. Of course you should talk to your Dr. and take their advice

Good luck and let us know how your doing.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
