You are going to do great! You are making a change for the better now instead of waiting until you are 36 like me. Imagine how much better you are going to be for this.

And young skin will bounce back a lot better!!! you are going to have such a better of a life SO much longer.

CONGRATULATIONS to you for being proactive and doing something now!!

The best part is that you are starting now.. baby u are still young and u will have more of a life than most.... There is nothing to be afraid of.. are u going to be afraid to go in the store to buy a size 8 jeans, or what ever size is your goal size.. will u be afraid to respond back to that hotttt guy because he noticed how hottt u were walking thru the mall??? Hell no.. this is a life style change and u can do it just think about how better u will feel about yourself.. The liquid phase is not that bad. I was able to do 2 shakes and 1 meal unlimited broth, popcicles, Jello, and crystal lite so u should be ok... it is mind over matter as well.. make sure u keep yourself busy and always take a shake with u.. we normally eat when we are bored.. but if u keep yourself busy u wont have time to get bored...:)

Good for you! At 19 I weighed 95lbs...and I loved every minute of it! Cute clothes and cute boys. Within a year you'll look and feel fabulous and your self confidence with shoot through the roof. This is the beginning of your adult life, my dear! Embrace it and run with it. You'll have a couple of tough days but it'll will be the beginning of a new life.

Just don't look at it as a restriction - look at it as a boost out of the bad habits and choices that have been made to get you where you are! You have to be ready to make a lifestyle change and you will have so much more energy once all the junk carbs and fast food, sodas, etc are out of your everyday diet. I think I am the most amazed that the "sluggish" feeling has left me and I am only at the end of my 3rd week of being banded. It is such a useful tool. I hope you will put it to good use and be amazed!!

Hey Miss Elizabeth!

You are going to be FINE! I'm 21 and I had my surgery about 4 days ago, and it was nothing that you cannot handle, I promise! It is really hardly anything at all. I know I worried about SO much before I went in....and let me tell you, everything I worried about was ridiculous! The day of the surgery is a little scary, but it is over literally before you know it. There is a little pain, but I don't think its as bad as having the flu, honestly. Its more of an annoyance, or a discomfort than a really serious pain. What's the best part is that since my surgery, I've lost 7 pounds! Ahhh! Its awesome. You will be so happy that you did this! Any annoyance or discomfort is SO worth it...and I'm only 4 days out! :)

I wish you the ABSOLUTE best, and email me if you have more questions! I know I would have appreciated someone to chat with about this before I went in, so let me know if you need a chatting buddy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
