I got my lap band today, and I am tons of pain.....does anyone have their port, at the top of their rib cage?

My bra lays on it.....of course I am not wearing a bra now, but it hurts like mad...

Also....can anyone tell me, when taking liquid tylenol....do you swallow it all at one time, or sip....its nasty, but so is the pain meds....

thanks for any replys...

I am sorry that is't so painful right now. This too shall pass. The first two days were rough on me - by a week post op I was back to normal which I didn't think would happen on that second day.

I still have to unhook my bra if I drive after I eat... not sure why as it's not RIGHT over it but it does make it uncomfortable.

As for the tylenol - I would sip it but not over more time than 10 minutes. Five would be even better. You can mix it in some juice but to me that makes it worse.

Good luck and welcome to Banster world!

I too find my bra riding on one of my new scars, the one where they put the band in... I just slug the liquid tylenol down

My port scar is right under my bra so, I know what you are saying.

I would suggest sipping medicine if you can.

Hi Jorjet....Is your port in the middle of your abdomen or toward the side? We had the same surgeon, and my port is in the middle of my abdomen about 2-3 inches below my bra line. The pain will subside in a couple of weeks. My only pain was from the port incision....and it lasted a while, it's common. The port incision is the biggest incision. Just take it easy, don't do too much, or lift anything. Just sip the liquid tylenol like you have to sip your liquids. Feel better....My prayers are with you.

Hi Everyone,

Today is a much better day, I finally got a few hours sleep. I am feeling better, and other then being mentally hungry, I am doing better.

I am going to go for a walk today, and push myself through these hard days. You guys are so great, and very supportive.

Thanks everyone.

Huggs.....

Hi Jorjet,

Sorry it was so tough yesterday. Glad its immproving though. I have 5 incision scars- one in between my breasts and then two lower on both the left and the right. My port scar is 2-3 inches below my left breast. I can't imagine even considering wearing a bra for a while. If you feel like the medication isn't going down but kind of sitting in the pouch than you should probably sip it but I don't recall having any problems swallowing liquid medicine and I just slugged mine down. A heating pad might help any aches and pains too. Best wishes, Teresa

I found that a tight "sports bra" style works best. Tucks them and holds them up close to the upper chest. Also, it will aid in reducing sag due to weight loss. You do get the "uni-boob" syndrome ha ha but to me it is worth it. It is a bit uncomfy tight the first few days but after that, no biggie.

How much are you taking in Liquid Tylenol? I only take 2 Tbs (rarely) and just swallow it down.

Careful on the walking thing too fast. I did that because I felt great, then regretted it. Remember, wherever you walk TO you have to walk BACK!

Glad you feel better today!

if you find the sports bra too tight, you might consider cutting small slits along some of the band

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
