ouch that hurt

so I went in on Tuesday the 20th for my monthly visit and I had gained 3 pounds since the last visit 7 weeks ago, last week I was down but this week with the heat I was retaining Water bad. (happens every time that the heat goes above 85 and it was 90 here over the weekend) to top it off I let the doc know I was getting so hungry that I search for food, and I was able to eat more and more. I was at 3.7cc in a 10cc band. he gives me a fill and I go home and when I lay down to sleep I would wake up feeling like I was drowning in my own fluids. this went on until this morning I called the office, food goes down but the reflux is horrid.

so the doc is not in but the nurse is trained (found that out today) to do fills and unfills, but only gets the chance when he is out and patients need help. I get in there and she tells me he went gong ho on me and put in 1cc she was not surprised to see me. (I do well with little fills nothing big, I was thinking he had done .5cc)

as she is prepping the site she comments on the location of his entrance when she could feel if higher up. so she inserts the needle and then can not hit the silicone area. she asked if he has ever mentioned that the port is tilted, nope but I feel that it has moved under my ribs more I used to feel it better while laying down now it is harder to find. the doc used to be able to stick the needle in and be done fast now it takes longer. so she fished around for a long time then took the needle out repositioned me and went lower at an angle then it went in. removed .5cc we will see how the weekend goes. she apologized for not removing the first needle earlier, and said 'now that I made hamburger out of you'. I love the nurse but now I am sore was sore from Tuesday (bruised in fact ) but I can live with that.

but ouch that hurt:eek::cursing:

oh and since Tuesday I lost 5lbs. like I said water weight

Wow, I bet that did hurt. My doctor numbs me before doing fills, so I don't feel a thing. I tend to retain more Water in the summer as well. I hate it when I look down and my ankles look like water filled balloons.

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
      What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

      I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
